Patty has an awesome voice that completely filled the room and I am looking forward to her new CD. For her first encore she played the Patsy Cline song "Crazy" which was incredible. I hope that I will get the chance to see her again in a small venue but I believe that once her new album is out she will not be playing to crowds under 200 anymore. I would also like to hear a tape of the show if anyone has it. Dave ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 10:22:49 -0800 From: "Larry S. Greenfield" Subject: MM: Upcoming Patty Releases Hey, MMishers! here's the info in the March issue of ICE Magazine regarding Mz. Gee: - -- On March 17, Marc Cohn's CD entitled "Burning The Daze" will be released on Atlantic Records. Patty contributes backing vocals on three cuts: "Already Home," "Providence" and "Healing Hands." - -- Patty has a cut on the Epic Records soundtrack for the film "The Newton Boys," also set for release on March 17. The track is not named, but the film features jazz music from the 1920s. - -- Patty has an unidentified "unreleased" track on the motion picture soundtrack for "Niagara, Niagara," on V2 Records, set to hit stores on April 7. That's my story, and I'm stickin' with it! - -=-Larry-=- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 14:49:43 -0500 (EST) From: Lena Heung Subject: MM: hello! Hi, just wanted to drop everyone a line b/c I'm a newbie on the list. I got to hear Patty Griffin play when she opened for Guster and Jump, Little Children at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC a week or so ago. Anyway, I thought she was incredible! I didn't have a chance to see if she had CDs for sale at the show. But I stopped by one of our local music stores a couple days ago...and they had Patty Griffin playing (I recognized the tune...turned out to be Sweet Lorraine). So, of course I took that to be a sign that I had to buy the CD, and I've been playing it almost nonstop since. I love it! Anyway, I'm curious to see how this list works. Is it relatively new? I've been on the Guster and JLC lists for quite awhile, so hopefully nettiquette is about the same. Are there people out there who tape her shows? If so, would anyone be willing to spin me a copy of a show? Thanks! Patty's voice was pure heavan, and i had a great seat, front row dead center. wow, you must have been sitting almost right next to me...i was in the front also, on the left end of the first row...almost, i got there about 5:45 and boy was it perfect timing, i cant believe the line was wrapped around the block! but wow, she was amazing...it being the first time i have heard a lot of the songs live well, it was quite an experience..tony gave me chills throughout the whole thing..i had to run around the block to get some energy back while gearing up for the second show! (j/k i didnt really run around the block, but i walked REALLY fast to get to the back on the line!) Tony Campbell opened up for here but all i wanted to hear was Patty. (He was pretty good) troy cambell? yeah he was okay but i can agree with you that i was highly anticipating patty..and when she came out to introduce him i had mixed feelings cause i reallyw asnt expecting an opening act on a night when two shows where scheduled...but i guess i should have known:) Here are some of the songs she played. I dont think this is all of them but its the ones i can remember. Flaming Red Sweet Loraine Poor Man's House You Change Tony Cain Mad Mission Moses Wish You Well (Dont know the title on this one??) Kate, did you get the shows on tape because I would LOVE a copy, please get back to me!! Thanx. >> yup, i got EXCELLENT recordings of BOTH shows, you wouldnt believe how clear they came out, i'll start taking requests now:) so as for the second show, equally amazing, not to mention SHE PLAYED CRAZY! which i was absolutely hoping for! (i figured my chances were pretty good) a few that i dont know the titles to..help me out of you can so i can label the tapes correctly? here is the setlist that i came up with: sweet loraine poor mans house flaming red "something about a stolen car" (you change maybe?) mad mission "love in my lips?" moses christine cain wishing well, wish you well? not alone (which brought streams of tears to my eyes) forgiveness (back to back!) every little bit full moon song - --------encore 1 crazy! - --------encore 2 mary i wish i was more familiar with her new material:( soon enough i guess, as her new album should be out in june:):) hmmm....what else? OH yeah, it just happened that i was at my car behind the ark about an hour and a half before the show adn im digging around, look out the windshield and who do i see? yup, patty just walking back from a day of shopping in ann arbor.. i looked up from outside the car and she looked at me but i was just too stunned to say anythign, im a coward when it comes to situations like that when im not prepared...so she kept on walking and i went on with my things meanwhile giving myslef a smack on the forehead...but its okay, yesterday was a great day regardless! bye bye mishers! kaet ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 20:58:43 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: Mad-Mish list archives Rob wrote: >I'm curious to know if there is an archive of old posts.
