I agree, wholeheartedly. I've never seen her live, don't know when I will, but would love to hear her live. I wish I had stuff to trade but this is what happens when you grow up in Hawaii and see a cool concert every few years or so. > it worked quite well on the jewel list a year >back w/ the JewelStock tapes. unfortunately i have no recording devices >so i feel a bit guilty for asking... As do I, but as I'm learning in life, you have to ask if you actually want something, because people can't read your mind. Therefore, if Patty's reading this one, PLEASE come to San Francisco. :) Thanks, folks Marc mhertz@sirius.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 10:31:20 EST From: KashmirKat@aol.com Subject: MM: The Fez Hi all! Just a really quick post to say how great the Patty show was :-) A powerful performance as always and as expected :-) She seemed in good spirits and happy to have the new album done (I can't wait til June! ;-) ). Very nice to get to talk to her after the show again - Rob (my hubby for those non-eda's out there) had made himself a Patty t-shirt with the picture of him with Patty from JewelStock on the back and the signed cd cover on the front (pocket area). She was kind enough to sign it for him and allow me to have him take my pic with her :-) I told her I love the song Silver Bell and she said she should bring that one back - woohoo!! I heard at least one other person in the audience yell that out :-) Just wish the venue had more actual seating. We (Myself, Rob, Eric, and Tom) shared a booth with another couple that supposedly sat 6, but it was very worth it (and the Mediterranean plate was delicious - 2 kinds of hummus and tabbouleh - the Merlot was horrible, however... heh) Anyway, enough babbling - it was a great show and I'm so glad we went :-), but wish we could have gone up to Boston too...... Tammy :-) (with a slightly new name - the y is now an i in kashmirkat...) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 11:33:03 -0500 (EST) From: Casey Beth Nissenbaum Subject: MM: mm:Time will do the talking I am confused. Out of so many set lists, why have I not read about Patty playing "Time will do the Talking". This was my first Patty song this past summer, and I played it over and over on my tape deck. Why does she not play it, any ideas. Also, I would like to thank the giver of Tablature for "Every Little Bit". That song is soooo much fun to play, and quite a bitch to sing. Even with what people tell me is a good voice, I do not approach Patty's ability. God love 'er! Still, It is so satisfying to be able to belt out those lyrics over my guitar. "Reality fired her wooden bullets splintered under our skin". Woo, it gives me chills even as I type. Who sent that to me? I seem to have lost that information. Also, I would just like to put my vote in for some Patty bootlegs. I am in Florida, and Dearly hate missing patty shows. This could be the proverbial bandage over my wound. finally, I would just like to let anyone who plays guitar know about the handful of songs you can get over the net (if youdon't know already): http://www.harmony-central.com/guitar/tab.html/ It is the On Line Guitar Academy, and has thousands upon thousands of song, but only a few of pattys. So, If anyone has more music, please feel free to share. thanks, casey ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 11:02:54 -0500 From: "Perlman, Judith" Subject: FW: MM: Tonight's somerville show I was there for the 8 show. She blew me away. Every song, she pours her whole heart and soul into. She sings with such intensity. It's so raw and naked; she is obviously baring her soul. I really liked her new songs too - no sophomore slump for her. And what a guitar player she is! She filled up the whole room with her playing. Boy, did she beat on those guitars! But, maybe even more importantly, she was incredibly REAL, honest, down-to-earth, humble and generous. And charming. She seemed not to believe the audience's roaring enthusiasm for her, even overwhelmed at times. She didn't have any phony patter; she even joked that she didn't know how to do that, like a "real performer." On top of that, she was so kind to sit in a booth afterwards and talk to people, when most performers would've gone back to their dressing rooms and rested their voices for the next show. She greeted everyone with a smile and gratitude. She is as beautiful a person as her songs are. > -----Original Message----- > From: EMSTER68@aol.com [SMTP:EMSTER68@aol.com] > Sent: Saturday, February 21, 1998 11:14 AM > To: Shawna9775@aol.com; mad-mission@smoe.org > Subject: Re: MM: Tonight's somerville show > > Did anyone share the same religous experience as I did last night at > Fez?!!!!!!!!!! > Please share your thoughts.............. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 12:33:58 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: neither rain nor snow nor dark of night..... Well Mad-Mishers.... Imagine my major dissappointment when I woke up this morning to see we have a winter storm warning for tonight in my neck of the woods. (Tonight's Patty show in Syracuse is an hour north of me, right smack dab in the middle of the NY state snow-belt too) Nolemo problemo....I'm taking a half day off from work and driving up there right now to beat the storm.....Motel 6, here I come!!!! :-) Afterall, I can't let a little thing like a forecast of 8 inches of the white stuff keep me from seeing Patty for the first time since July 96 (JewelStock).....besides, Jerry needs that set list for his web site (OK Alan, I'll jot down the set list) Mike :-) P.S. Hard as i try, I can't make one of those U's with the two dots over it like Rachel did :( **** The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/pattyg/pattyg.htm The Jewel EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup DuckofPrey@aol.com WhyADuck55 on AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 15:02:48 -0500 (EST) From: mfar4577@uriacc.uri.edu (melissa) Subject: Re: MM: selfish suggestion Hello mad-mishers! I am new to this list so forgive me if I address a subject that has been addressed before :) I have the full version of "I Write the Book" on the "Legacy" compilation CD, and would be happy to copy the song and/or cd for anyone who hasn't heard it. (I know this violates copyright laws, please don't report me). I was lucky enough to hear Patty perform this song at a gig at Club Cafe in Boston in the early 1990's, at which she also did a duet of the Beatles' "Oh Darling" with actress/comedienne Betsy Salkind. It was quite the treat. So let me know if you want a tape. Jane ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 18:06:49 -0500 From: "Amelia S. Vlah" Subject: MM: Cleveland show. delurking...
