I just got tickets to see Patty in DC Thursday at the Metro Cafe, I am so excited! Anyone else on this site going? It's great reading these messages and seeing she has such a following! I work at Mary Washington College and I am trying to see if we can get Patty here. She's so busy, I don't know. They had the Indigo Girls here last Fall. I haven't had the opportunity to hear any of Patty's new stuff so I can't wait to see her. I read David Lee's message this am, did you buy that duet CD? I'm not familiar with Jules Shear. I had heard a while back that Patty was asked to do a theme song for a movie, anyone heard about that? Also, I heard there was a "radio" version of one of her songs from "Living With Ghosts" maybe Every Little Bit? Has anyone heard it or about it? That's all for now! I'll update on the show on Friday! Hello everyone! In less than 2 weeks, as many of you very contentedly know, Patty Griffin and Ellis Paul will be performing at the Somerville Theatre. For those of you who are still interested in going, I highly recommend calling Ticketmaster or the Somerville Theatre (sorry don't have the # on me...) ASAP...any seating which is left is HIGHLY limited, as both have huge followings up here in the Boston area. Tickets are $16 & $15. I know that this will be an incredible show, as I have seen Ellis Paul's explosive and energetic performances, have heard about Patty's passionate and intense concerts, and know, from conversations I have had with Ellis, that both are incredibly close friends...and we all know that concerts with your best friends are always the best... I want to remind you all that there *is* a pre-show get together. The theatre is in Davis Square, which is on the red-line of the Boston T system. We will be congregating just one T stop away, at the Pizzeria Uno's in Porter Square. For those of you who may be driving straight to Uno's for dinner, it is on Mass. Ave, literally right nextto the Porter Square T station/commuter rail. It is in a building which also houses a Pier 1, a Blockbuster, and a couple other stores. And it shares a massive parking lot with a shopping center which is home to a Star Market. We should all get together *AT 5 PM* inside the building, right in front of Uno's. The concert begins at 8, so this should give us plenty oftime to relax and chow down before heading to the theatre. The doors to the auditorium of the Somerville Theatre do not even open until 7:30. =) If you are going to be coming to dinner beforehand, PLEASE email me and let me know. I know, from personal experience, that it is *so* important to know how to look for someone (something more specific than "Under 50, over 12, and female...is always helpful...). And it is not fun if people are lookingfor you but do not know what to look for and then wait a while and just...leave and go eat. Know what I mean? I am *really* excited about this...for many reasons. The Mad Mission list was born just over a month ago, and already there is a get together...and a celebration of Patty's amazing music. Also, there just seems something so amazing about people from different "groups" comingtogether to enjoy beauty in any of its forms. It's great, because with these three lists in particular, there is already such a cross-over of participation...and we will get to meet new people and have "new fun" so to speak...with those who participate more exclusively in one list...there is just something so joyous about all of this! So, please get in touch with me, let me know if you are going to be comingto dinner beforehand...and, periodically, I will post lists of people who are coming. And, of course, as more details present themselves, I will most certainly post them to all of you! take care, everyone, and...only 12 more days! love you all stephanie Stephanie Maria Kartalopoulos We should be very greatful to have a kartalst@hugse1.harvard.edu limited body...like mine or like The Greek Poet Chyck yours. Someone could then collect them and present them to Patty at the show as a gift from her internet mailing list fans. I can't wait to see Patty on the West Coast, although as far as I know there's no current plan to bring her here soon : ( Maybe after the record comes out??? Hopefully El Nino will be finished by then and we won't have to get to the show by rowboat. My husband and I took advantage of a break in the weather last night to go see Christine Lavin at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. What a great show & great venue! It would be fantastic to see Patty there, or in a similar setting someday. Have a wonderful time at the show, you lucky people!
