Mike assured me that she's not coming to concert in Kansas anytime soon but i'll be lurking around keeping ya'all in line :-) duff ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Jan 1998 11:34:43 EST From: CornflkGl@aol.com Subject: MM: All list subscribers :) Every once in a while I check Majordomo to see how many people are on certain lists, and how many of them I know. Here's the current ( as of 11:30 AM this morning ) list of subscribers. The list is chronological according to when you joined, so the person at the top of the list joined first and the person at the bottom joined last. I don't think this list is 100% accurate, because there was a post from Duff this morning and she's not on the list, so either she left already or majordomo's list isn't updated. Anyway, here you go... My fellow Mad-Missionaries- I know I never write anything on this list, but i've decided to now...so here it goes. I believe that Patty means that we spend too much time trying to interpret life and that maybe we should focus on the "living" part rather than the interpretation of it. If we spend all of our days worrying why we are here, why we are the way we are, or any of those other questions then what kind of life is that? What are we really in pursuit of? It doesn't matter in the gigantic scheme of things, does it? There are so many unknowns that the comtemplations on the usage of one word in one song seems rather menial. I don't really know....just a thought/opinion. ~Liz PS maybe when we stop all the "*thinking*" about things/words we'll find the answers, if there are any. <<<> ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Jan 1998 22:36:40 -0500 From: "Josh \"schwa\" Tropp" Subject: Re: MM: RE: Moses - The use of the word "queer" etc........... I've just joined this group, but I'm guessing someone took offense at Griffin's use of the word "queer" as perhaps derogatory towards gays. (?) Where I come from (Los Angeles) the word had definitely insulting connotations, like but not as powerful as the word "fag." BUT, I'm now at school in Philadelphia and the word "queer" is apparently what the gay community uses to describe themselves--the first time I heard it used I was taken aback. For example, the group at my school is SQU--Swarthmore Queer Union. At least as far as self examination has shown me so far, I am not gay, so I suppose I can't say first hand what the "gay view" (if there is such a thing) of the word is. All that said, I think I thought about it too much. Cliche as it is, "live in the now" is key." But the unexamined life is still not worth living. My opinion: happiness lies in the balance. thank you, schwa At 07:05 PM 1/31/98 EST, Liz10@aol.com wrote: >My fellow Mad-Missionaries- >I know I never write anything on this list, but i've decided to now...so here >it goes. >I believe that Patty means that we spend too much time trying to interpret >life and that maybe we should focus on the "living" part rather than the >interpretation of it.
