(?) Sender: owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk According to her management, Patty has been working on a song for the upcoming Susan Sarandon movie "Anywhere But Here." I'm not at all sure what the release date is for the movie (don't have a clue actually). The song is called "Twisted Road" and it looks like it might be part of a soundtrack CD for the movie that will be released by Atlantic. Also, the "tentative" West Virginia concert date has been confirmed. She will be appearing at the Mountain Stage Radio Show on April 25th in Huntington WV (I previously posted this gig to be in Charleston). I have gotten a private email that Patty's gig (opening for Lucinda Williams) in Detroit on 5/14 has been listed by TicketMonster as being at Clutch Cargos' in Pontiac MI, but I have not yet gotten confirmation on that from her management. The private email also mentioned this Pontiac show would be an all-ages show.....but again I have no confirmation on that either....just passing along the info I received from a fan of Patty's. Nor have I gotten confirmation on the venue for the two Nashville gigs on 5/18 & 5/19, but it seems likely to me that the posts to MM@smoe mentioning they would be at the 328 Performance Hall are most probably correct. (I am sure Misty already has tix if this is correct :-) Mike :-) - * The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/pattyg/pattyg.htm * * Rachel Martin's Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive is at * http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/3079/patty.html * * Jerry Zigmont's Flaming Red - A Patty Griffin Website is at * http://members.tripod.com/PattyGriffin * * Katie Peterson's Patty Griffin Guitar Tabs Archive is at * http://members.tripod.com/~Lifey/patty.html * * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 on AOL and/or AOL Instant Messenger From owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Mon Apr 5 22:58:35 1999 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/listq-jane) id WAA02000 for mad-mission-news-outgoing; Mon, 5 Apr 1999 22:58:18 -0400 (EDT) From: UMCaner74@aol.com Received: from UMCaner74@aol.com by imo11.mx.aol.com (IMOv20.4) id pGQFa26975 for ; Mon, 5 Apr 1999 22:03:45 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <3f80e279.243ac581@aol.com> Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1999 22:03:45 EDT Subject: PattyG-News: Patty in Annapolis, MD 4/22/Philly 4/20 and 4/23 To: mad-mission@smoe.org Sender: owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Hi Everyone, For everyone planning on attending the Patty show at Rams Head in Annapolis, MD on Thursday April 22nd..I just wanted to let you all know that I just got my tickets and they are not general admission..they are reserved by table. If anyone from on here is going, and is interested in meeting up at the show let me know!! Just to let everyone here know..I will also be going to both of the Philly shows..the one on the 20th, and the one on the 23rd..I just happen to be CONVENIENTLY located between both venues, and it's a 2 hour drive to each show..so why not?? If I didn't go I'd just be sitting and home wondering why on earth I'm here and not sitting in AWE of the most amazing person on god's green earth! So god willing..I will be seeing Patty 3 times in 4 days!!..and not just seeing Patty..but seeing Patty solo!! it just doesn't get any better than this folks..YAY YAY YAY YAY!! I just received word from her management that Patty has been booked for two major late-night network talk shows :-) On Friday May 7th, she will appear on the Conan O'Brien show on NBC television. This show follows the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in most areas (12:35am EST). Of course check your local listings for your area/timezone. Also, on Tuesday June 15th she will be on The David Letterman Show on CBS television, which is on at 11:35pm in the EST time zone. In other news, her musical contribution (Twisted Road) for the Susan Sarandon film "Anywhere But Here" is complete and they are just waiting for a decision from "the powers that be" as to whether or not it will actually be in the film and on the soundtrack CD. Her management did not have any information as to a potential release date for the CD (didn't someone post they read April 27th??). Looking forward to FINALLY having some VIDEO of Patty singing, Mike :-) - * The Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission@smoe List Homepage is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/pattyg/pattyg.htm * * Rachel Martin's Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive is at * http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/3079/patty.html * * Jerry Zigmont's Flaming Red - A Patty Griffin Website is at * http://members.tripod.com/PattyGriffin * * Katie Peterson's Patty Griffin Guitar Tabs Archive is at * http://members.tripod.com/~Lifey/patty.html * * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 on AOL and/or AOL Instant Messenger From owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Fri Apr 9 16:43:27 1999 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/listq-jane) id QAA05055 for mad-mission-news-outgoing; Fri, 9 Apr 1999 16:42:27 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <199904092042.QAA05055@smoe.org> From: "muzikman (a.k.a. mike bauer)" To: "'mad-mission@smoe.org'" Subject: PattyG-News: Letterman Show Date: Fri, 9 Apr 1999 08:23:50 -0700 Sender: owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Hi All - Mike Here. Haven't posted in awhile. Just an FYI about the Letterman show. Unless they've changed the way they distribute tickets, you can't request tickets for a particular show. Basically you call/fax/email in a request, and they send you tickets within a certain time frame. At least that's how they did it last time I was in NY. But...there is a website out there (http://www.clarkson.edu/~guildda/lsmain.html) where you could actually trade with people who had tickets they couldn't use Good Luck, ~m From owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Fri Apr 9 19:00:59 1999 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/listq-jane) id TAA08173 for mad-mission-news-outgoing; Fri, 9 Apr 1999 19:00:47 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <199904092300.TAA08173@smoe.org> Date: Fri, 09 Apr 1999 18:56:58 -0400 To: mad-mission@smoe.org From: Mike Connell Subject: PattyG-News: "Blue Sky" to be released April 20th & Patty T-shirts soon :-) Sender: owner-mad-mission-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Howdy everyone :-) I just got word that A&M Records is going to release "Blue Sky" as a single to radio stations on April 20th! :-) I don't know about you folks, but I NEVER heard "One Big Love" on the radio last fall when it was released, and I emailed more than a few DJs in my area asking them to play it....alas, to no avail :-( I feel we ourselves should do our best to request this single in our areas to try to help Patty get some airplay *before* her TV appearances coming up. Because of the release it seems quite logical to me that she'll perform "Blue Sky" on those shows. (but ya never know :-) Personally, I'd rather hear "You Never Get What You Want" or "Poor Man's House", but that's just me....of course she has to play something from Flaming Red :-) IMO, these TV appearances may just be the "break" her career needs to get airplay across the country and not just the regional areas she has a strong following in now. Case in point. It was after her 1995 appearance on the Conan O'Brien show that Jewel's career started to take off. So Patty appearing on Conan and the Letterman show in a span of five weeks can really make a huge difference here, perhaps more so if viewers have already heard the tune she performs, or already know of her. So, after the 20th...start callin' them thar radio stations! Also, they are "working on" some new t-shirts which *hopefully* will be available for the upcoming solo dates. They also have some of the original "baby-T's" left which will be on sale at the shows also.
