Let it alllll go. OK? Billy Beard, Patty's drummer reporting here. Let me say that after having done quite a few big tours in my day, nothing compares to the one we just finished. The Dixie Chicks, after hand-picking Patty sheerly based on the love of her music, afforded her and the band every opportunity to showcase her (and our) talents in front of tens of thousands of people each and every week that we were together. Everything was made available to us from full production, to lights, to hospitality, to having Patty join them on stage. The sole (and noble) intent was to share with their audience other kinds of music that they, The Chicks, listen to and appreciate. As to the particulars; I have been on other sizable tours where the opening act is only allowed 20 minutes compared to the 30 -40 minutes that we were given nightly. The entire monitor system was erected and torn down every night - just for us. The Chicks, their band and their crew could not have been any more supportive or encouraging. During the whole summer the entire entourage was behind us 100%. The show that seems to have started a whole line of criticism was the one in Tampa a couple of weeks ago. In that show Patty indeed did not appear for her usual spot along side the girls for "Let Him Fly". The reason for this was that Patty had been, and was continuing to, suffer from the flu. It was entirely Patty's decision to not go out and sing on that one night in order to let her voice rest for our set the next night. That being said, let me take this opportunity on behalf of Patty and the band to thank each and every one of you who forked up the $ to see us over the summer with the Chicks - albeit an abbreviated set. We are all greatly looking forward to heading back out around the release of the record and repeating the kind of show we put on in San Francisco and in Nashville - both of which remain high-water marks for our little combo. And to the rest of you who couldn't make it to any of our shows over the Summer - thank you for you're continued support - we'll hopefully see you sometime this Winter. And as an aside - Natalie's performance in San Francisco and on the last three shows of the tour (where she joined us on "Mary") proved to us at least that she is one hell of a singer. And the Chicks effort to come to the Nashville gig just to experience our show as fans, as well as the day to day appreciation of our music, proved to us that they are one hell of a nice band. We wish them all the luck (as if they need that) and continued success that they deserve. Hope to see you all out there somewhere in January. It was some new Bette Midler sitcom. Didn't catch the storyline prior to this duet, so I'm not sure how it fit as the ending. Anyone know? Alan
