Daily News in 1997 as he was getting ready for a heart transplant. Here's a little snippet....Deb: FEST COMES TO US I instantly bonded with Bob, a Delaware resident who, like me, is 52 and a Philadelphia Folk Festival junkie. He's been going for 20 consecutive years; I've been going for 35. We mourned that we'd miss the 1997 edition. Almost as a joke, Bob's wife Linda said one day, ``Wouldn't it be nice if the festival could come to us this year?'' ``You know,'' I said, ``that's entirely possible. Let me make a few phone calls. '' I checked with hospital brass to see if they'd allow a visit from festival performers. The answer was a resounding yes. The next call was to dear friend Lisette Bralow, who handles publicity for the music fest. Lis arranged for two acts to visit the day before the festival. Singer/songwriters Lucy Kaplansky and David Olney, guitars in tow, put on an hourlong show for patients, family, friends and staff. Channel 6 covered the event, making us instant stars. We hoped to draw attention to the embarrassing number of people who are not organ donors. == The way to find the real 'world' is not merely to measure and observe what is outside us, but to discover our own inner ground. -- Thomas Merton == Life is such a changing art. -- Dar Williams == ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V9 #67 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
