It is a Loudon Wainwright, III classic. The reason I asked was because the original post had his first name as Loudan instead of Loudon. My own personal chuckle, I guess. I never realized that his name seems to always be spelled wrong until I heard the song and the really funny preamble where he shows his divider from his section from a record store with his name spelled wrong. It seems like every time I am in a music store the divider is indeed spelled wrong in one way or another. Of course, he is always mixed up with his son Rufus in the stores as well. So much for Loudon. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Monday, February 05, 2007 6:38 PM Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Over the Hills track list > In a message dated 2/5/2007 6:56:27 PM Eastern Standard Time, > togg@sbcglobal.net writes > :Does anybody know Loudon Wainwright, III's song "T.S.M.N.W.A.?" > > Loudon Wainwright III - The Swimming Song > > This summer I went swimming > This summer I might have drowned > But I held my breath and I kicked my feet and I moved my arms around > I moved my arms around > > This summer I swam in the ocean > And I swam in a swimming pool > Salt my wounds, chlorined my eyes > Ibm a self-destructive fool > I'm a self-destructive fool > > This summer I did the back stroke > And you know that thatbs not all > I did the breast stroke and the butterfly > And the old Australian crawl > The old Australian crawl > > This summer I swam in a public place > And a reservoir to boot > At the latter I was informal > At the former I wore my suit > I wore my swimming suit > > Oh, this summer I did swan dives > And jack-knives for you all > And once when you werenbt looking > I did a cannon-ball > I did a cannon-ball > > This summer I went swimming > This summer I might have drowned > But I held my breath and I kicked my feet and I moved my arms around > I moved my arms around > > > I wonder if Amelia is the Joni Mitchell song?
