So if it's alright with everyone on the list I think we should go ahead with a plan to donate to that. I think Lucy would be very touched to find out we helped start a fellowship in her father's name. If for some reason the fellowship plans fall through. we can donate the money to HTS again or another charity/fund that we can agree on. So initital plans... ( i am more than open to changes in the following if others have ideas) Since the new cd comes out in the middle of March, let's shoot for a deadline for donations of March 1. I can organize the money again if that's alright with everyone. You can either make a donation through paypal (ilovelucykaplansky@msn.com) or send me a check (Kristen Myshrall 26 Gold St Apt 1 Stafford Springs, CT 06076). Like last time, I'll send a receipt to you for tax purposes once your donation clears the bank. I'll then send a bulk payment to the fellowship/charity the first week of March. To help raise money, I'm going to once again offer an incentive to try to get as much as possible. There are two options that I can think of right now... 1) a dvd with various tv performances (Early show 9/11 tribue, 5 songs/interviews from the Hallmark channel, and if I can dig one up somewhere the C3 performance and Survivor panel on the Early show, I'll try to find out about copyright on a Folk City 25th anniversary tape I have (i don't think it's available anymore so I think it will be ok in which case there are 2 songs Lucy sings on) and of course anything else I can dig up between now and then) 2) a cd with various radio interviews from 1992 onwards For either the dvd or cd a donation of $15 (with $2 going to cover cost of media and mailing) For both a donation of $30 (with $3 going to cover cost of media and mailing) Of course additional donations are MORE than welcome and if you are not interested in either the dvd or cd just let me know and the full amount will go towards the fund! Does that sound good? Any suggestions, comments, concerns are of course welcome. If this is all ok with everyone then I'll email the person at MSRI and tell them we are going ahead with this. - -Kristen _________________________________________________________________ Get live scores and news about your team: Add the Live.com Football Page www.live.com/?addtemplate=football&icid=T001MSN30A0701 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2007 15:19:31 -0500 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: RE: [lucy-list] Perpetuating the Pi - inital plans Oh shoot...one more thing. If you send a donation via paypal, my account isn't set up to take credit cards (it's takes a percentage out anyways) so bank accounts/existing funds only please!!! If this is a major problem let me know and I can see if I can figure something else out. >From: "Kristen Myshrall" >Reply-To: lucy-list@smoe.org >To: lucy-list@smoe.org >Subject: [lucy-list] Perpetuating the Pi - inital plans >Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2007 14:49:54 -0500 > >Hi everyone, > >I've talked with some people at MSRI and if there is enough interest and >they are able to raise enough money, there is plans for a Kaplansky >fellowship to support a postdoctorate position there. >So if it's alright with everyone on the list I think we should go ahead >with a plan to donate to that. I checked with paypal and to accept credit card they are going to charge 4.9% + $.30 per transaction which ends up being quite a bit of money. Because of this, here are the donation options... 1) Send through paypal from existing funds in your account 2) Send through paypal from a bank account 3) Send a check 4) Send a money order You could send cash but I'm a little nervous about cash being sent through the mail. However that is up to you. - -K _________________________________________________________________ Communicate instantly! Clearly I get a consensus that Kristen, sorry Kristen for referring to you as you read this as if you are not present, I value you just do not feel I can wax eloquent now. How about we send m.o. about $1.00 at US post Office, used to be .75 but went up last year I think, make them out to Kristen if Kristen you are OK with that and mail them if there is a PO BOX or address Kristen you are comfortable with using. Or any other plan, that works, works for me. I missed the Cause or where we are sending the money to, but the sentiment and honoring Mr. Kaplansky's memory far more important to me. So how did it work before? - -Was there a central location for mailing we can use again? - -What is the Cause/where is it going if that has been decided and I missed it, please - -Is there a suggested contribution, it would be easier if I knew what it was for, but I will send a money order as it diminishes personal check/pay pal fees, concerns, etc. And if I can be of help, let me know. Please I missed the last gift so I am not aware of the process you followed. If K, you could just up date me as to time frame, when we need to have this together...and how many folks and how much we are shooting for, much appreciated.
