I've had the Craig bug for a while now. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, he is the utterly charming Scottish host of The Late, Late Show on CBS. I keep having the thought that Lucy should be on the show. Actually, I always thought Jay Leno would love her, but Craig Ferguson seems more approachable. I have heard that they won't let Jay pick any of the musical guests because he isn't hip enough in his tastes. Anyway, I had the thought that we could bring Lucy to Craig in the following way, if you guys are willing to chip in. If we all made a little sampler disc and sent it in during the same week, someone would be likely to take a listen. It seems to me that if they got the same name coming at them from all over the country and from you folk from across the pond, it would pique curiosity and ultimately get to where it needs to go. In my little scheme, I see us all making the discs with our own personal favorites and to have the first song be different on each disc (or at least a lot of them) so that if they listen to a few of them they will hear different songs if they don't listen past the first song. Attention spans are short in Hollywood and I'm sure that they get tons of unsolicited submissions that they dread dealing with. Craig has all kinds of music on the show. He once went to a local club known for acoustic music and spoke about it the next day. He also proclaimed that Rufus Wainwright was his famous singer/songwriter. When he had Jewel on, he gushed about her. He also had a waitress on. She was someone who waits on him frequently and told him that she was a good singer/songwriter. She gave him a CD and he liked it and had her on. Lucy is much better than this gal, although she wasn't bad. So let me know if you are game and we can work on further planning if enough people are willing to participate. For those of you that don't have the capability to burn CDs, I will be happy to make one and mail it to you and you can just mail it in at the appropriate time so it will have a post mark from your area.
