Have you heard of Folk Alliance? Here is a link. While I am not a singer/songwriter, I have gone to the show cases of the Far West Folk Alliance. During the day they have all sorts of workshops for people like you and others who want to be involved in the biz in some way. During the night (all night) they have showcases in the hotel rooms themselves. It's really fun and a way to be heard. All sorts of people from various aspects of the biz show up. http://www.folkalliance.net/ Gina "Denlinger, Robert" wrote: Thanks for the reply. I was saddened to hear of Bob's death as was many people. I'd just like to know where and/or who I can send some of my material to for consideration. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-lucy-list@smoe.org [mailto:owner-lucy-list@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Donna Myers Sent: Friday, January 27, 2006 11:38 AM To: lucy-list@smoe.org Subject: [lucy-list] helping other songwriters Bob, Bob Feldman, the president of Red House just passed away at the young age of 56. I'm not sure what type of help you need. Lucy is busy raising her 3 yr old daughter and hasn't been writing much herself. I'm amazed that she continues to play gigs every weekend!! She's extremely busy. During the into to "Cold Missouri Waters", she said something like, This is a song from a band I was in called Cry, Cry, Cry. I didn't sing it back then. Richard Shindell got to sing all the cool songs. This is paraphrased, but close. Steve - --- Janet Cinelli wrote: > Thanks Steve for the review, it sounds like I missed > a > great show. It looks like she played almost the same set list as the Boulton Center. Jennifer Kimball opened the show and was terrific. It was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing her. Jennifer invited Lucy to join her on "Veering from the Wave". It was absolutely beautiful!! Their voices together were amazing. Lucy was wonderful as usual. She sang Cold Missouri Waters again on Saturday. It was great. She played Your Still Standing There for her relatives in the audience. Lucy asked Jennifer to join her on stage for Broken Things and Return of the Grievous Angel. I can't remember if she joined her for another one. My memory is failing (it's probably because of the dirty martinis I was drinking), next time I'll stick to beer!! Lucy did dedicate Still Life for Bob Feldman which was extremely touching. Another great Lucy show!! I missed seeing Rick and Molly again. Hopefully, I'll catch them one of these days. Does anyone else remember this? I think the interview was from a few years ago - definitely post-Cry Cry Cry. It sticks in my mind, because I was surprised that she didn't name Richard Shindell or John Gorka. That's what she was saying when several of us on this list caught the Lucy/Jennifer double bill in Indianapolis in 1999. They backed each other throughout at least half of each others sets. It was one of those *great* concerts because they were supporting each other. And, believe it or not, it was dumb luck that they were there together. The local promoter, who booked them separately, had no idea that they knew each other. ~Richard - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Theresa Marsik" To: Sent: Monday, January 30, 2006 3:44 PM Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Lucy at The World Cafe Live >I remember once hearing an interview where Lucy said that Jennifer Kimball >was her favorite harmony singer. Look at this: Grab a seat and knit a scarf for Knit For the Cure! -- www.knitforthecure.org Munch some snacks! Bid on a chance to win some great prizes benefiting Half The Sky Foundation! -- www.halfthesky.org Enjoy a storewide sale! Ignore the game! Enjoy your yarn! Do ya all remember that I knit a little sweater for Molly's arrival (red yarn of course)? It started a minor argument about gifting and babies... Anyway, this is just a wee bit of irony (wee being the operative word). Anyone in the LA area want to come? It's at Unwind, in Burbank, CA.
