Unfortunately, the Boston Globe online calendar is incorrect---the software is glitching up a major portion of ALL calendar entries and their major lay-off last month has affected the number of Tech Support people.... Anyway----Lucy is scheduled for February 3 at: me & thee coffeehouse Unitarian Universalist Church 29 Mugford Street Marblehead, MA Tickets are available from Pay Pal and by phone at 781-631-8987 This is a wonderful venue---a real "listening room" with great ambience. Hope to see you there! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jan 2006 08:16:49 -0500 From: "Denlinger, Robert" Subject: RE: [lucy-list] Lucy at the me & thee in Marblehead, MA on Feb 3 If you have a chance to see Lucy, tell her I said hello and ask her why she hasn't responded to my letters to Red House. I used to be a huge fan, but when it comes to helping other songwriters, she's full of crap. I'm not sure what type of help you need. Lucy is busy raising her 3 yr old daughter and hasn't been writing much herself. I'm amazed that she continues to play gigs every weekend!! She's extremely busy. Donna ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jan 2006 13:06:34 -0500 From: "Denlinger, Robert" Subject: RE: [lucy-list] helping other songwriters Thanks for the reply. Lucy looked good, but almost too skinny. She was wearing a plain white t-shirt and a pair od faded blue jeans. It was the first time I had seen her since last April and she put on a good show. She played two sets. During the first set she talked about Molly and told us that she had pictures if we were interested. When she came back for the second set, someone called out "where are the pictures?" Lucy had forgotten them, so we told her it was ok if she left the stage to go get them - so, being the proud mom, she did. She showed us a cute picture that was taken at the beach. She had brought a few pictures up, but then she realized that the others showed her in a bathing suit, so she said "we're not going there." It was prettty funny. During the first set, she pointed out a gentleman who was wearing a Half The Sky t-shirt. He also had a copy of the book that was put together by the founder of HTS - which he gave to Lucy when she indicated that she didn't have it yet. I'm not sure if he was planning to do that or not, but it was very kind. Lucy was touched by it. To the best of my recollection, here are the songs that she played (not in order except the first and last): God Will (a Lyle Lovett song) Don't Mind Me Loch Lomand Line in the Sand This Is Home The Red Thread Ten Year Night One Good Reason Just You Tonight Song About Pi Manhattan Moon When You Love Somebody (new song, not sure of the actual title) A Heart Needs a Home (a Richard Thompson song) I've Just Seen a Face Broken Things Song For Molly Cold Missouri Waters Scorpion My Name Joe Still Life Speaking With The Angel There may have been a couple more. Lucy asked for requests early, and then realized that there were so many that she wasn't going to be able to remember them without taking notes (although I think she did most of them). Have you heard of Folk Alliance? Here is a link. While I am not a singer/songwriter, I have gone to the show cases of the Far West Folk Alliance. During the day they have all sorts of workshops for people like you and others who want to be involved in the biz in some way. During the night (all night) they have showcases in the hotel rooms themselves. It's really fun and a way to be heard. All sorts of people from various aspects of the biz show up. http://www.folkalliance.net/ Gina "Denlinger, Robert" wrote: Thanks for the reply.
