Hey Folks, Anyone at McCabe's last night? It was a good concert. There were a few differences, perhaps because Lucy is a tired mother these days, although she said that the family was back in NY. There was no intermission and the patter between songs seemed considerably less. In general it lacked a bit of energy from Lucy. The music was great, but she just didn't seem to be having as much fun as she usually does. She did say she had a cold though. Her voice sounded fine to me. She told us how "The Red Thread" was Molly's favorite album and she has had to play it a million times in the last year. When she tried to play another of her albums, Molly became upset. She then explained that it was Mommy and Molly said, "Different Mommy." Matt Cartsonis joined her on mandolin and a bit of back up vocals for the several of the last songs. All and all it was a good show. It was not completely sold out, but there was a good crowd. After the show there wasn't a big crowd surrounding Lucy and Matt. So, there was a little time to chat and "hang." I have been working way too many hours these days and nearly didn't make it to the show. The choice was to stay at work and try to catch up or fight the traffic and go see Lucy and Matt. My choice is obvious. It was nice because an old friend showed up saying, "I knew you'd be here." She showed up after the show had already started. I was already sitting there crying during "Guilty as Sin." I had to warn her of my tendency to boo-hoo during Lucy concerts, but last night it only happened a little bit. It happened again during "Still Life" and a wee bit during "Scorpion." It was my friend's first Lucy experience. She is also a singer/songwriter and she really enjoyed the show. I wrote the name "Randy" on my set list. I have no idea why. Can anybody help me with my failing memory? Set list: Oh, Lord I've Made You a Place in My Heart.
