My point, which you seem to be missing, is that when liberal views are expressed in here, no one has a problem with reading it. There is a double standard. That is all I was saying, besides wanting to say Merry Christmas, Christmas being a christian holiday. I was not. and am not, trying to bait anyone into anything, so let's drop it for the sake of peace. There was a strong reaction on both side of the issues articulated by a variety of list members. Each list i belong to articulated this issue in some way around the election and some after. some lists which are not usually political in nature found their way through the debates respectfully and others possessed members who were harsher to on another... each list decided HOW to deal with political content... i dont think that applying what happened on one list to this is appropriate or necessary.. because i have an experience somewhere else in my life, doesnt mean that i have to carry that in to another area.. i think that Gerry's post was an attempt at humor at how overly politically correct we get sometimes in our efforts of fairness.. it is not meant to be offensive.. NO more offensive than some of the other views that i have read in the last few months.. what we learned is that Lucy has liberal views.. If that was a surprise to you, than accept that you learned something.. what i learned is that some people reacted to her FREE speech by rejecting the artist.. I applaud your efforts if you feel that strongly.. I also choose where and when i spend my money.. there are causes I cannot support because their views are not congruent with mine and i cannot fund those that are so opposed to my COre values.. each list that i belong to except ONE... the darlist, where politcal discussion has been going on since dar has become more public with her politics...each list has polarized over religious and political views.. where people cannot seem to find a middle ground or some peaceful acceptance with different views or allow to disagree or not.. its seems to be a reflection of whats going on in the country.. if you want to talk about Lucy.. bring up a topic.. i think that gerrys post was benign and not meant to be offensive...its not a liberal or conservative or neoconservative issue.. it will be interesting to view the attitude change and social climate that has become the norm in this country 20 years from now sharon - -- She said a good day Ain't got no rain She said a bad day's when I lie in bed And think of things that might have been paul simon ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V6 #178 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
