About LUCY.<<< Now, life is about to get pretty darn interesting for me in about four weeks with an Ellis Paul show at a coffeehouse near my house, a gig selling CD's for the Richard Shindell/Eliza Gilkyson show at my beloved Cedar and three (count 'em THREE) southern Minnesota Lucy shows back-to-back in mid-week. All of this in the space of eight days from Thursday the 11th of November to Friday the 19th of November! What's a family guy to do!?!? Well, I will start by setting the Lucy scene: Show one is a Wednesday night in Mankato, MN about an hour and a quarter southWEST of my home. Show two is about an hour and a quarter southEAST of my home in Rochester, MN. And show three is about two full hours down the Mississippi (also southeast) in Winona, MN. I will go to at least ONE of these, maybe TWO of them....but all three? That would be a junket! Wife would feel beset upon to do the child care herself. So I need the list to plead with her -- on list or directly to me off-list -- to give me release days for the benefit of The List. (It would be more fun ON list!) Wife's name is Yvonne. Nine-year-old son is Wolfgang. And they both like Lucy. Think about it. This way I can review shows for The List to my heart's content. Take time off from work (I need it!). Spend long hours loitering in local coffee shops. Put miles behind the wheel like a real folk singer (except it WON'T be a rental car!). What-d'ya think of the idea? A petition drive to my wife to win release from home and family for three consecutive Lucy shows....(two if negotiations prove more difficult than I foresaw...) Just a few sentences would do. I would sure appreciate it! I'll print 'em out and show her about Halloween-time when I unveil my plan. Dear Yvonne I would be eternally grateful if you would allow Timothy to abandon you for more than one night to see Lucy. He will of course be formally representing Lucy fans from the UK and Europe on at least one of the nights so, in his role as ambassador, would be too busy and preoccupied with formal duties to enjoy himself. He would need at least one other show to do that on his own behalf.
