Once I saw Lucy at Stephen Talkhouse on in the eastern end of Long Island. She was walkinng around the village with hubby and asked me if there was a placeclose by to get a good cup of coffee. Did she just randomly stop and ask you that without knowledge that you were a fan or had you already established contact? I had a friend that went into a little coffee place, many years ago, late on a chilly, foggy, San Francisco night and sat there alone with nobody in the place except John and Yoko! Can you even imagine? She just let them be, but very much felt the magic. This is a very hip restaurant group in the Washington area. The Silver Spring, Md., location has one of the best acoustic stages in the region and is featuring music -- mostly from local musicians -- every night. It is one of the very few venues like this in the region. We have some great venues -- Wolf Trap and the Barns, the Birchmere, Jammin Java, the Iota -- but they feature mostly touring artists. The Washington region is blessed with many great artists (the original home of The Kennedys, The Nields, Emmylou Harris and Mary Chapin Carpenter) who seem to have to move out to get the recognition they deserve. Anyway, it was great to hear Lucy inserted in the playlist that normally features a heavy dose of Texas artists -- Joe Ely, Robert Earl Keen and the like. >Janet Cinelli >Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy in Starbucks! > >Not really but my daughter and I heard "The Red >Thread" last night while having a cup of their >expensive coffee. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Sep 2004 08:25:39 -0700 (PDT) From: Steve Gravano Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Inquiring minds want to know... Actually, I was sitting on a bench ouside a typical East Hampton/Amagansett ice cream shop, $2.50 single scoop, $3.50 double scoops. Abd They were crossing the street towards me. I could believe it. So I just said hello and Lucy said something like " hi, hey would you know where we could get a cup of coffee around here?" There are no deli's or 711's nearby. They went into the ice cream shop, purchased a cone, and on the walk back to Stephen Talkhouse the ice cream wound up on the sidewalk. Rick ran back for another. - --- Gina wrote: > Did she just randomly stop and ask you that without > knowledge that you were > a fan or had you already established contact? > > I had a friend that went into a little coffee place, > many years ago, late on > a chilly, foggy, San Francisco night and sat there > alone with nobody in the > place except John and Yoko!
