Lucy complained that many of Greg Brown's songs were guy songs that had fishing in them. She felt the above was also guy, but she didn't care. Written on the back of his hand 5 in the morning I had something Ten year night Red thread Don't mind me Brooklyn Train Nothing Ventured-Deidre McCalla Lucy started by mentioning the concert where she roughed out the song. She talked about the fan who tracked down Deidre McCalla in the phone book. Deidre had also not thought about the song in quite a while, and also forgot the lyrics. But then she called Lucy back with the lyrics. Intermission Mary & the soldier Scorpion Line in the Sand Ring of Fire This is home She sang this though without very much of her previous emotion. Yes she SHOULD sing with emotion, it's just that she sang this song without it getting to her too much. Land of the Living Asteroid with you Finally, she sang this one of her father's songs! THANK YOU LUCY!!!!! End of the Day Return of the Grevious Angels For once in your life By way of Sorrow Encore Texas Blues ( I think it was this) Angles rejoiced She talked (or course) about how Molly is doing new things every day, new words, etc. If I got it right, she now relates car rides (where Lucy has the radio on) to "music". Molly was getting into the car and said "music" She also mentioned that Richard Shindell's backup vocals in the Red thread was done in a church basement in Wolfeboro, since this was the only place where they were both at. All in all, a wonderful night. It has been 13-14 months since the last time I say Lucy, and I hope it won't be another long time. I don't know whether you were reading the list on 9/7 when I forwarded that email from Deirdre herself. "Nothing Ventured" is by Daisann McLane. Lucy heard it "from the singing of Deirdre McCalla," as they say in the auld countrie. She may not be aware of the authorship herself. ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V6 #139 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
