Pat, Jodi & Paula were all fine and out of harms way. I think Pat had a few interesting commutes into work, but for the most part was unaffected. My poor town, however, was not spared. My house and property are fine, no problems for me, except for continuing water and sewer restrictions and multiple detours with road closures. The town lost three dams, two bridges, two homes and about two businesses (homes and businesses were condemed). Two lakes upstream from ours had their dams break, and with the rain (over 11 inches, which works out to a 1000 year storm event) and the additional lake water, our dams went in a chain reaction. We are cleaning up and will rebuild. The lakes are gone and things are still up in the air about funding, state & federal aid. It was so hard for me to watch the news and see the places I used to play growing up, lakes I used to swim in gone, and bike routes I used to take to get to school, all destroyed destroyed. The most fortunate thing is that no one was hurt or seriously injured. It will take a while before we are anywhere back to "normal" again. > Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2004 19:33:42 -0700 (PDT) > From: Deb Woodell > Subject: Re: [lucy-list] southern NJ > > Sharon posted, > > Im not one to cross post but i know that there are > > list members who live in southern new Jersey and I > know that Candy funston and Jodi and Paula and Pat > are "out there somewhere" and without email addresses > for them... > My home was not in the flood area, but some of those > listers very well could have been part of that area > hit by floods.
