Why people think it's cool to cause problems for others, I don't know. Anyway, Martyn Joseph opened for Lucy. Since it was our first "night out" since Hannah was born, I was a bit distracted. I liked some of his songs, but I liked the tone of his guitar even more than his words. It was a very full, mellow and rich sound. For all of you fashion-conscious people, Lucy was wearing the same shirt and pants as she is wearing on the cover of The Red Thread. In addition, she had a sleeveless denim vest. She was having a very good hair day, as the weather in Michigan was pretty much rainy and cold all day. She told the story about her gym teacher (who had attended her concert in Chicago the night before), and also told us about Molly's pronunciation of meow. Some guy in the audience kept requesting Speaking With the Angel (I think it's the same gentleman who requested it when she played the Ark last year - - a very vocal man!). Lucy used the opportunity to dedicate the song to Dar Williams, following the birth of Dar's son last weekend. From what I remember, she played the following songs (only the first and last songs are in order): He Still Thinks I Care (or He Thinks Still I Care - I can never keep it straight) I Had Something This Is Home Line In The Sand Land of the Living The Red Thread Brooklyn Train Ten Year Night Scorpion Guinevere Speaking With The Angel The Return of the Grievous Angel What's So Funny 'bout Peace, Love and Understanding More Than This Song About Pi Don't Mind Me End of the Day One Good Reason Turn The Lights Back On (halfway through, she broke a string - very fitting for this song) Just You Tonight It was a good show. Personally, I would have preferred to have had Lucy play for the entire time (instead of sharing time with Mr. Joseph), but that's just because I'm selfish and would have liked to hear more songs and stories. After the show, we asked Lucy to sign our FRFF program from last year. I also took the opportunity to show her a picture of Hannah (Lucy says she's adorable). We had a brief "mother to mother" chat about sleeping habits of our children. It was pretty cool. Hope all is well, Theresa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 May 2004 21:01:38 -0400 From: "Donna Myers" Subject: [lucy-list] Re: Lucy in Ann Arbor Thanks for the review Theresa! I'm impressed that you had time to write. How old is your daughter.3-4 weeks? I love "Speaking With the Angel". That was nice of Lucy to dedicate the song to Dar Williams. I'm so happy for the both of them!! You must listen to Dar's "The One Who Knows". I still can't listen without crying. It amazes me that she wrote it before she had any children! Theresa, you are the one with Hannah, right? My daughter is Hannah Rose and she will be 24 this September. She has always loved her name! Congratulations and good choice! At the end of last year in June my dream was to sing "The One Who Knows" to my 'graduating' sixth graders with my team teacher. We were so busy that the best we could do was give them a handmade card with the lyrics to the song with their special honors we gave them. It is the most amazing song. I share Lucy and Dar with them whenever I can....... Sarah from Portland On Monday, May 3, 2004, at 06:01 PM, Donna Myers wrote: > Thanks for the review Theresa!
