Oh you guys... making me feel guilty for not having posted anything yet!! I've got a feeeeewwww minutes before I have to get ready for work... I honestly don't have a whole lot to add... because the reviews thus far covered it. But I will say... that the Barns is STILL one of my favorite venues... and it's the perfect place to see Lucy. The SOUND is just wonderful... particularly the piano. I thought that Brooklyn Train was the best that I'd ever heard. No, it's not a joke that Seen A Face is track 0 on Flesh and Bone. It's just that not every CD player will play it. Car ones usually don't work, but I've found my discman will do it. Persistence, persistence... you will find a way to hear it! I loved Martyn Joseph. I've been listening to his CD -- which he claims gets the prize for longest CD/song title in the world ("Whoever it was that brought me here will have to take me home") -- and it's wonderful. Our little tailgate party was much fun. And Kristen and Benay were great houseguests per usual. They totally indulged me by asking me to play for them for a while after we got home, so I auditioned some new songs on them... and started working on Somewhere Out There, too. :) We woke to NY bagels (thanks! such treat to have REAL bagels!) and hung out all morning... I just wish that we could have made the whole thing last for more than the quick 24 hours that it did!! Take care, all! I hate to correct Libby in public, but she really IS wrong here and I can't let her spread misinformation...the above quote from her post about our weekend should read, "I totally indulged Kristen and Benay by being gracious enough to play for them after we got home and premiering some lovely new songs..." :-) Hey, everyone remember to listen to "All Things Considered" today and cross your fingers that Lucy's interview really does make it onto today's show! www.npr.org will get you your local station and broadcast time... Benay ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 17:05:58 -0400 From: "benruth@earthlink.net" Subject: [lucy-list] no NPR interview yet... Well, it's only halfway through All Things Considered here in New York, so I suppose there still might be hope, but based on the listing of upcoming stories on their website, it's not looking as if Lucy's interview will air today after all. Guess we should keep watch on her website, as she said at Wolf Trap that she'd put more information there in the News section if and when she had it... Well, with THIS already up on the All Things Considered website tonight... Wednesday, April 14, 2004 Adrienne Young is a Nashville musician who makes old-fashioned songs sound new. From sparse banjo to traditional country-band backing, her brand of folk music is winning fans across generations. We talk with Young about her debut album, Plow to the End of the Row . ...what do you bet that Lucy's interview isn't happening tomorrow, either? Unless, of course, Lucy has changed her name, taken up the banjo, made a new album, and moved to Nashville all since Saturday night... Sigh. As I was telling someone today, perhaps this is all a clever plot devised by Lucy: claiming she's going to be interviewed on NPR so as to force all her fans to listen to All Things Considered every day and become informed citizens! Diabolical. :-) No, really, I still believe it will happen...and that she'll tell us when on her website if and when they tell HER! But gosh, there are some things All Things Considered doesn't seem to be considering right now...like the impatience of Lucy's fans...
