Despite my lack of familiarity with the area and dependence on public transportation, Donald and Liz, visiting from Scotland, gamely agreed to join me. We met up at Penn Station at 4:30, and...well, I just have to say outright that I have trouble imagining a MORE enjoyable way to spend a few hours on a Thursday evening than going to a Lucy show with two incredibly kind, smart, witty, and thoroughly entertaining people with gorgeous Scottish accents, and I wish all of you the chance to see a show with Donald and Liz someday (although I'm afraid accomplishing that feat would leave poor Donald and Liz very tired!) <> I'm sure that those of us here in Scotland would agree with Benay's sentiments - and Liz keeps seats for you as well when you are late! As October 2002 was Lucy's last Scottish date we currently doing Lucy-Cold-Turkey after being used to seeing her twice a year for some time. I thought flying from Scotland to Northern Ireland to see Lucy play in Belfast a year and a half ago was good going, but Aberdeen to New York to see a 40 minute Lucy set definitely raises the bar and will take some beating... I arrived late, had an extra ticket (yes, these two events were related), couldn't sell it/them because the show had already started and anyone hoping for a ticket was already gone. I just stood in the back of the packed church and listened to the show. Lucy commented several times how much she enjoyed the venue -- well organized, good sound. The crowd was good and she got a loud response as she began Scorpion. To me the real highlight was Duke Levine...not to say that Lucy herself isn't enough of a highlight but the addition of Duke really sounded spectacular. And it was also crystal clear that Lucy really wants to rock out at times. On several occasions I could actually see her bobbing her head in true rocker chick fashion. So I think it's about time she drops the charade and gets on with it. I had to leave a bit early and didn't catch the last couple of songs but I don't believe Off And Running was one of them, even though a rather exuberant attendee mentioned it a couple of times when Lucy was soliciting requests to end the set. I will neither confirm nor deny knowing anything about this person's identity.
