So here's an unimportant, but maybe modestly interesting question: when Lucy introduces the song, "Brooklyn Train", at her shows, she says it is inspired by a morning Q-train ride she and Rick took over the Williamsburgh Bridge on September 13, 2001. But the Q-train uses the Manhattan Bridge to cross the East River; the J, M, and Z use the Williamsburgh. Any comments on this paradox? Btw, I love the song, no matter which bridge or subway line it was. Phil ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2004 12:37:26 -0500 From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Q-train? Phil this is a very timely questions.. for the last 7 years the Q train as been rerouted over the Williamburg bridge while the Manhattan bridge train lines were being widened and renovated FOR 7 years the train lines have been changed and suddenly MONDAY MOrning they will be put back except the trains that ran on the brighton line D&Q express will not run A B train or Q train will run on the brighton line the D which used to run to coney island on the brighton line will be on the W Line.. the W was put in place 7 years ago and its gone gone gone... so we can get over the Manhattan bridge but on a different change Last night, yesterday I took the Q over the williamsburg bridge... Funny, it was reading about tomorrow's Manhattan Bridge subway changes at www.nytimes.com that prompted me to look at mta.info and to post that Q-train question. I thought the before- and after-maps both show the Q-train on the Manhattan Bridge. The Brooklyn Bus Map also shows that clearly. Plus, isn't Williamsburgh pretty far from Flatbush Ave? (Btw, I'm actually published on this subject--in a July, 2001 New York Times letter to the editor.) But you're on the scene, sharon, which makes you the expert. I guess Lucy had it right. Thanks. Have fun riding the new service! It's called "Back in the Circus," and IMHO, it's really good! You can listen to the whole thing (for how long, I'm not sure) at: http://mp.aol.com/audio.index.adp?mxid=1123563 If you order the CD through Jonatha's website (http://www.jonathabrooke.com), she'll send you a signed copy.
