[lucy-list] Lucy Interview on High Plains Public Radio ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 10 Feb 2004 09:13:08 +0000 From: danderson@technip.com Subject: [lucy-list] The Red Thread Well it finally arrived yesterday and boy was it worth the long wait. Thanks to Fish Records for getting it to me on release date ! Being a sad person I sat and listened to the album all the way thru 4 times last night and think it's wonderful. For those of us who haven't seen Lucy in a while most of the material was unfamiliar with the exception of Buddy Miller's "Hole In My Head" and Lucy's LOTL and This Is Home , both of which have changed a lot since we heard them in Work In Progress mode way back in October 2002 when she last appeared in the UK. So everything else was brand new to me and I loved them all ! Can't wait to see her again soon - and yes we're going to when Liz and I visit NYC in March and plan to travel to meet up with the NYC branch of The Lucy List in Peekskill , and hope to hear lots of the new material live Donald , Aberdeenshire , Scotland This e-mail and any files transmitted with it (B+ Message B;) are confidential and may contain privileged information. I usually just lurk on this list, but my musical interests span both folk and Americana, so this item hit my inbox this morning. The Americana Music Assn.'s Americana Airplay Chart lists "The Red Thread" at number 34- up from number 43 last week. Lucy is just about the only contemporary folk artist on the list. Mark Erelli is at number 9, and Kate Campbell recently spent a few weeks on the list in the thirties and forties. A chance to post original "Lucy News" from Western Kansas. You can't imagine how rare this is. ;-) The morning show host, at my public radio station, recorded a telephone interview with Lucy last week. It will be airing tomorrow (Wed.) morning at about 11:00 Central Time. You can stream the broadcast from here. http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/hppr/ppr/index.shtml Here's a quote from Mary, the host of the show: I spoke with Lucy last week on the phone so it is a recorded interview though original. Unfortunately it's shorter than I would have liked it to be since her little girl Molly was about to wake up from a nap! Nonetheless it was a great interview about her new CD The Red Thread. I'll be airing it after the 11:01 am news break CST followed by cuts from the CD. Lucy promised that we would be able to visit with her again soon as she continues to settle into her new lifestyle. It's been 2 years since I've seen Lucy live. In 2002 Lucy and Jennifer Kimball did a mini tour of Kansas and Nebraska which included Lawrence, Hastings, Manhattan and Moundridge. We where able to make all but the last one. And is was kinda funny, we kept bumping into Kirsten at all the shows. ;- ) Enjoy, Eric Johnson ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V6 #32 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
