As it is now February, I can be officially excited as Lucy will swing south at the end of the month for concerts in Charlotte, NC and Mt. Pleasant, SC (greater Charleston). I saw her in concert last year for the first time, although I've been an admirer of her work much longer. At the last concert, she seemed to be really enjoying herself and she apparently didn't know she had fans in SC and was surprised that some of us recognized her music. I know this is an old song and not on any of the set lists that I've seen, but has she ever done "EDGES" in concert? I know it is from an early CD, but has remained one of my favorites among her songs. Any suggestions as to how to ask her to consider including it (other than shouting from the audience)? I look forward to seeing her (for sure in Mt. Pleasant, maybe in Charlotte too) and giving you all the blow-by-blow afterward! It's one of a very few Lucy songs I've never heard live myself, despite having attended...(cough)...quite a few Lucy shows. Of course, there are all those shows that have gone unreviewed over the years, so she could have snuck it in there sometime---say, Alaska last summer---without Lucy-list witnesses. ("Ha! Nobody from the Lucy-list HERE! Time to do "Edges," "Ruby," and "Somebody's Home"...they'll NEVER know!") But I think it's been gone a while, and she might not remember it well enough unless she has somehow planned beforehand to do it, which is (based on recent history) unlikely. Still, you can always TRY asking from the audience---Lucy tends to be amenable to requests if she can be, and she's nice about it even if she refuses for one reason or another. So you never know. (If she does do "Edges" and you get to hear it, I will be immensely envious...but I will survive.) Enjoy the show(s), Lisa! And yes, please DO tell us about it afterward!
