Yep the link is on the site...now that it's actually working again! Another option for donating that I talked with a few people Saturday about is.... I've been getting alot of emails about my collection of old and rare Lucy songs and whether they are available. The answer was no...until now. I'm going to make a compilation cd of some old songs, rare covers, and live songs. It will have at least 15 songs on it (most likely more)...possibly up to 3 or 4 may have been on the last compilation cd that I made for the list but the others will be different. If you are interested in one of these cds, I'm asking for a minimum of $10 per cd in the US and $15 international. The first $3.00 (or $6 international) will go towards the cd and shipping, and the rest will be as a donation to Half the Sky in Lucy's name as a birthday/adoption/cd release present. Of course if you can send more than the minimum and the extra will go directly to Half the Sky. I'm also going to put a link on the site (the address is halfthesky@lucykaplansky.net) so if you decide to make a donation (even if it's seperate to this), and if you wish, you can send me your name and a message to Lucy and we'll put it together in a big card for her. Anyone know how to make one of those fancy big "pretend" checks to present to her ;) You can email me for more information. To pay now you can send money through paypal to ilovelucykaplansky@msn.com or you can send a check/money order to Half the Sky Fundraiser c/o Kristen Myshrall 47 Burnham st Enfield, CT 06082 Make sure you tell me how many cds you want and the address(es)! - -Kristen _________________________________________________________________ High-speed usersbe more efficient online with the new MSN Premium Internet Software. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us&page=byoa/prem&ST=1 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Jan 2004 23:17:40 -0500 From: "Doug Fuller" Subject: [lucy-list] New list member Greetings: I'm new to the list and I hope to catch my first show of Lucy's this weekend. Hopefully this will be the first of several as she's in my area (greater Boston) a number of times in the near future. My question is, how are the shows arranged? Solo acoustic? Duet? Full band? Thanks and I'll report back after Sunday's show. The vast majority of Lucy's shows are solo acoustic. Occasionally she will have a guitarist with her, like Duke Levine (or, when she's on the West Coast, Nina Gerber), and very occasionally she will do a co-bill with Richard Shindell or another artist...but she usually mentions these things in her email announcements beforehand. There were a few "full band" shows when Every Single Day and/or Ten Year Night first came out, but I haven't heard of any shows that are designated that way this time around. Lucy gives great shows all by herself, though! Enjoy your first Lucy show this weekend---you're in for a treat. Please DO report to the list if you can, as many of us love to see reviews of the shows we can't attend---and buy the new album if you can, too! Lucy has been on my radar screen since I caught a bit of "Goodnight" on NPR a year and a half ago (what a song!) and I've been looking forward to seeing her for a while. Can't wait! The funny thing is I'm a really a rock guy at heart so even I'm confused by my interest in Lucy. I guess it's just that every so often a jaw-droppingly talented singer comes along and you just...can't...resist... I almost made my way to Northampton, MA last weekend but that didn't happen so it's on to Londonderry, NH this weekend, then a couple more shows in MA in March. Sweet. Question: does she meet with people after her shows? I like meeting singer/musicians whenever possible.
