I just got wind last Friday about an upcoming Lucy show here in Minneapolis on the first Saturday in April, the 3rd. I think this is gonna be her local CD release party, as Red House usually does a private hall rental for these shows and they are big productions. It's nice to have something in the springtime to reach out and try to pull oneself towards. We've been dumped on (snow-wise) out here in the Midwest, too. Gina wrote: >>>Thanks pretty cool Timothy. I would imagine that there is a good chance of John Gorka showing up too. :o)<<< Indeed! I was just promoting the show to an acquaintance and called it "Lucy Kaplansky and Friends". This because for the past four years or so, she has always done this show with a HOT electric guitar accompanist (Jon Herrington, Nina Gerber, etc.) and, if Gorka is in town, he joins her for a few tunes. Of course, this presumes that Mr. Gorka is not off somewhere else promoting his own fine new CD. Lucy normally does this show in the dead of winter. The last time it was in early September and I played singer-songwriter covers to the 100-200 people waiting out on the sidewalk for the doors to open. This one on April 3rd may be warm enough to do the same (of course, it could be blizzard conditions as well!) Anyway, we can hope! Timothy (in the town adjacent to Mr. Gorka's) (PS, pardon me, but has anyone commented yet about guest vocalists on Lucy's new CD? I would figger John to be on it but maybe all of us on the list are still clueless as of this time. Release must only be 6-8 weeks away, no?) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Dec 2003 16:23:19 -0800 From: "Gina" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Lucy Kaplansky....and friends! I don't know about Lucy's new CD, but Lucy is on John's new CD. It sounds like a wonderful show. I like Lucy alone, but find that she is even better when she is sharing the stage with someone. She seems to get a certain joy out of creating music with others.
