Which made me think about the fact that her U.K. tour ISN'T happening this year...which means Lucy's European fans are missing out on live performances for quite a while...and apparently everyone is being stoical and not complaining. I mean, of course, how COULD anyone complain when the REASON there's no U.K. tour this year is that Lucy-and-Rick are becoming Lucy-Rick-and-Molly? Still, it must not be easy to sit out a year of live Lucy when she's only tended to come once a year in the first place. And I find myself more than a little nostalgic for those enthusiastic Lucy reviews from across the ocean that always seemed so excitingly exotic to me (I have never been further from the U.S. than Canada)...for the Yorkshire tea and bourbon biscuit discussions (I still have one package of bourbon biscuits left from those a kind Lucy-lister sent me when I couldn't find them---I can't quite bring myself to open them and finish them and then have none left!)...for the Bryan Ferry and I-don't-like-Scotch and air guitar stories that came out of Lucy's trips to the U.K. And I just wanted to say that I am thinking warmly of all of you in Europe and hoping you are still out there on the list even though you aren't getting your live Lucy fix this year---you are much valued here, and while it's not the same, I hope those of us lucky enough to get to see Lucy more often can still give you at least a little of the feeling of being there! Benay who saw Cheryl Wheeler in a small town in NJ today and hadn't laughed so hard in a long time...the woman could get by doing stand-up comedy if she ever decides to stop singing...it was a really great show, though I very much missed Lucy's harmonies on my favorites, the Gandhi/Buddha song and its antithesis...would love to actually SEE the two of them live together someday (I know they have been, but I've never been there) ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V5 #216 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
