Is it a freebie by chance? I'll have to look on the map to see where Boylston is... Look here for details: http://www.towerhillbg.org/thwebspecev.html Benay who did her research long ago and found sadly that a distance far greater than a y and an l separates Boylston and Boston and that it's too hard by public transit at that hour of the evening...and who couldn't go now regardless because of other plans...but who's still happy to do minor promotion... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 Aug 2003 09:36:22 -0400 From: Donna Myers Subject: [lucy-list] name the year 1996?? FRFF is so all-consuming (hurry to get there and get a decent campsite...hurry home to your bathtub and bed) that those visiting from out-of-town often don't consider side-trips. This year I did it: took Monday off from work and booked the last flight of the day. Was escorted to the beach (Sandy Hook) by the Kathie Lee of the Lucy-list and had a smashing time "body surfing" on the waves in the bright New Jersey sunshine. HIGHLY recommended! I got off the beach in time to ride the Staten Island Ferry into lower Manhatten and back (it's free!) before rushing off and flying home. But the side trips really help take the sting out of having to part with The Hill at Hillsdale. I can actually find it depressing to have to watch them tear down the festival Sunday night while spending the night on the hill. That's my recommendation for next year--give yourself a "slop" day before heading home. Set aside a set of clean clothes and be a tourist! By The Way, Kristen. Did you read the other day that mathematicians comparing the ratio of flatness to bumps on a pancake and to the state of Kansas have published that Kansas is actually FLATTER than a pancake!?! (I'm sure that is not news to you, though.) I am sooo sorry we did not meet. Oh well, it's true what they say on the "preparing for camping at FRFF page" about there being FAR too much to do at FRFF to soak it all in. Hope we can meet some other time! eTimothy (back home for awhile--after 5 out-of-state trips in just over 3 months...whew! >>>Yay...well after a jaunt to Hampton Beach (ohhh the ocean....how i miss the ocean...Kansas SUCKS!) I am now safe back in Oz. - - -Kristen<<< ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 Aug 2003 22:31:47 -0400 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] The lure of the beach to those of us from "flatland" >By The Way, Kristen. Yep I saw that....I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it....however it's strange because I live in eastern KS and we're in the Flint Hills and I never understood the flat jokes until I traveled out west.....now that is seriously FLAT!! Eastern KS is pretty though especially around Lawrence...anyone who has hiked the campus knows this area is definitely NOT flat!!! On other notes....I'm working on a new and improved Lucy website with it's very own domain...no more obnoxious popups and banners..yay!! Hopefully now that I'm done with my thesis I'll have time to actually update it more often! - -K _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
