I've been listening to a new John Hiatt tribute CD called "It'll Come to You". The first tune is an absolutely shredding version of "Paper Thin" by Buddy and Julie Miller. This song requires loud volume and eventually new speakers. As I was listening to it, it occured to me how Julie Miller sings absolutely rockin' vocals on it. Of course, she's probably better known for her mellower stuff. Which got me to thinking--what's the hardest our Lucy has rocked? Is "Don't Mind Me" her rockingest (??) song, or have those of you that have seen her with a full band seen her do something faster and/or louder? Just curious. "Rock On Doc!" Lucy's version of I'm Looking Through You has its moments as well. And... < There are 10 kinds of people in this world...Those who understand binary and those who don't.> My cursory initial read of this put me in the category of those who DON'T...which actually makes it STILL funny, in a totally different way. But I DO now. That is indeed one of the coolest signatures I have seen; I might have to appropriate it for myself someday. Thanks for sharing, Deb! My parents live fairly near there (not that they would go---they don't do live music), and they have been telling me that Alan Chartok (sp? I can't remember and am too tired to look it up), a local TV/radio commentator up there, has been promoting the show heavily and saying he's going to go and that he thinks Lucy's great. It's a funny feeling...I heard this guy on TV all the time throughout my semi-tortured adolescence---I can still practically hear his voice in my sleep!---and now he's talking about Lucy. (I wish he'd talked about Lucy back THEN! Of course, I would've been too unexposed to music to understand, not to mention too transportation-less to get to see her even if she'd been performing at the time.) Alan Chartok talking about Lucy...it's like my adolescence banging right smack into my adult life...weird. Anyway, if anybody here goes, I'd be curious to know about it.
