(Perhaps, a few "UH UH's" & maybe grab your crotch while singing and you'll be hosting your own MTV TRL show and dating Fred Durst in no time! (of Limp Bizkit) My sense of humour has been reignited by my stay here in New York. When I get back to Oregon, they will not know what hit them! By-the-way, a hot tip for being able to fall asleep: Read the NY Times! My parents attributed my THREE hour nap this afternoon to my reading the NY Times (about Iraq). Was beautiful sunny day. Drew pastels with my dad in backyard. Bought four (4) pairs of shoes at once -- (there are NO shoes to buy in Oregon & because of the weather one goes through shoes quickly there.) I tell the shoesalesmen (age 80 or thereabouts) when I walk in "this is your lucky day." Did same routine there 4 years ago. Would have bought more shoes if they hadn't run out of my style . . . Live from New York it's Saturday Night! Fortunately, as we crossed the Verrazano bridge into Brooklyn, I recalled it's 90.7 FM, not 90.5 FM and caught it in the nick of time! So, the main deal is that my parents got to hear Lucy, finally: a captive audience you might say in the car. They enjoyed her beautiful voice & music. I enjoy hearing the show every time. I had to run in the house and go through 3 radios that malfunctioned before I found the fourth one that worked so I could finish listening to Indigo Girls. Tomorrow, when my niece visits me from Manhattan I will gently persuade her to go see Lucy next time Lucy is at the Bottom Line or somewhere close to my niece. I've told her about Lucy b4 & she was somewhat familiar with seeing Lucy's name around. O.K. TOP TEN WAYS YOU KNOW YOU ARE A MAJOR LUCY FAN: Starting with: 1. You frantically drive to get within listening range of WFUV to hear Lucy's Mountain Stage radio show broadcast despite the fact that you have already listened to the show like three times at least before, have it on your computer's hard drive, and expecting a digital copy to arrive one day. . . . OK, I'll bite: 2. When somebody so much as mentions in passing that they are trying to convince a relative in New York to see Lucy the next time she's in the NYC vicinity, you IMMEDIATELY go to Lucy's tour schedule on her booking agency's website, which is conveniently bookmarked in your browser...but only to crosscheck the dates, since they are already firmly implanted in your head: 5/17/03 Symphony Space (with the Nields and John Wesley Harding) 5/25/03 Brooklyn Botanic Garden (actually not on her schedule yet, but on the BBG site) 7/25-7/27/03 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Hillsdale, NY 10/29/03 92nd Street Y 11/1/03 Peekskill, NY Benay ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 2003 00:20:35 -0400 From: "Benay Bubar" Subject: [lucy-list] and another thing > 2. You look over what you have just posted as Lucy's New York City dates (including Peekskill and Hillsdale) and realize that when it comes to Lucy, you consider anything within, oh, a couple of hundred miles of NYC and/or within range of decent public transportation to be a New York City date.
