They should publish your description of the event in the magazine along with photos from the tv airing... If they don't then they are big fat dorkwads who don't know writing that is both entertaining and well done! I think I haven't picked up a women's mag in a long time (aside from the occasional Vogue to look at clothing or Cosmopolitan to read about some new sex position that everyone already knew about). IF they had Benay writing about daily life then I would definately buy a copy... In fact, they could send you off to do lots of weird stuff (like highlighting your hair on national tv) and then have you write about it! Maybe really weird things like folk music concert roadtrips (it would be a sacrifice, but I'm sure you would do it for your job!)or really scary stuff like bungee jumping on national tv :0) Perhaps GMA needs to hire you as a correspondent! ~Simona ===== Simona L. Cry Cry Cry died early in January 2000. Dar, Lucy, and Richard have each had at least one solo CD released since then. *They* have moved on. If a Falcon Ridge showcase should feature them, then by all means they should attempt a number or two. But it would be extravagant in the extreme to pander to a minority who continue to hold to the notion that the threesome was anything other than less than the sum of its parts. I'm not saying Cry Cry Cry was bad. It wasn't. But, individually, Dar, Lucy and Richard are far better. If Falcon Ridge truly wants to feature a mainstage alliance of folk talent, they need look no further than the Chautauqua tourists who graced these shores in January. Peter Mulvey, Kris Delmhorst and Jeffrey Foucault are perfect together. It was a long (maybe 2 hour) show and had Nina Gerber backing her up. I didn't take a set list but there were a lot of covers including "He Thinks I Still Care" by George Jones, "I'm looking through you" by P. McCartney, two Julie Miller songs (Broken things and Northern Cross) and Dave Carter (Cowboy Singer). Also some I probably forgot. She was seriously ON and Nina did a great job backing her. She was very entertaining... friends we brought along just loved the experience. Lucy didn't look entirely well. She was clearly sparing her higher register, sometimes using a soft falsetto. Her face was gaunt and eyes sunken... She talked about losing 30 pounds last year on the Atkins diet. Hey Lucy - women should be ROUND not flat. The opener was Carla Ulbrich who was terrific. She looked like an escapee from the 1960s Laugh In show, bright blond, yellow miniskirt, knee high boots. And her songs! The audience was sometimes falling on the floor laughing and sometimes drawing back after a Steven King moment. "We were on the phone for 5 hours last night, I may have told you too much, and now I must Kill you." A hilarious song about her name, hard to pronounce, "I looked up Carla in the baby book. it said see Charles... Charles said 'manly'" and she stood to proper attention as the audience cracked up. The nicest was "The Man Who Changes the Light Bulbs Changes Everything" done to the tune of "Blue Moon". At the end she switched to "Blue Moon" and started dropping letters out of the lyrics. www.carlau.com john alvord ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Mar 2003 19:54:01 -0700 From: Jessica Byers Subject: [lucy-list] Re: Tracy Tracy didnt just let some random audience person come up and do a song, she invited Ron Grietzer, a very long-time D&T fan and moderator of the Dave-and-Tracy list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Dave-and-Tracy/), to play When I Go with her. He did a beautiful job. Her shows lately have been amazing and Donny Wright is very cool (though he's not with her on the Richard dates, but he will be in a week or two).
