This should be a great show! Perhaps the kind of show such that, years later, you will find yourself taking a walk with friends near the location where it occurred and halt in your travels and say to your companions, "THERE! I saw Lucy RIGHT THERE once! It was SO great!" and even though it's clearly just a church now and Lucy isn't anywhere in the vicinity, your companions will, if they are true friends, nod in a kind sort of way and finally coax you onward. (Yeah, OK, that was what I did in the Bronx last weekend...Sharon and Elaine are my witnesses.) Anyway, see the New Haven info below... Benay, You never cease to amaze me ! Your description of Your Filming Exploits had me in stitchs !! Sounds like an experience you DEFINITELY don't want to repeat . Also, I thoroughly enjoyed your introduction to Libby Wiebel. I have signed up for her website and bought her anticipated cd. Meanwhile, just keep up the postings... As any number of subscribers have said before....YOU MAKE MY DAY ! (Do you think Lucy is really aware of what fun we have on the list, and how much it influences our daily outlook ?? ) Very Best Wishes, John Blackley. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Mar 2003 06:29:58 -0800 (PST) From: Robert Abalos Subject: [lucy-list] Libby's CD I think it would be silly for Libby NOT to promote her CD on this list. I bet we'll find a pinch of Lucy's influence in whatever she sings and plays, somewhere. Libby, I hope your sales exceed your expectations by a long country mile. Best of Luck and Congratulations! Robert P.S. I'll buy a CD. All of you out there, buy one too. That's an order. Yahoo! Ojai is a beautiful place North of Los Angeles, South of Santa Barbara and fifteen or so miles inland of the pacific. Its all rolling hills, ancient oak trees, art galleries and health spas. Its one of those "quietly wealthy" areas. It was fun to see Lucy there because the show is primarily attended by locals who go to the series (most of them 45+, because, of course, young people can't afford to live there ;- ). So alot of them were hearing her for the first time. I didn't write a set list but got to hear what I wanted to hear: Written on the Back of His Hand and Guinevere. Superficial commentary: When I first saw Lucy, I thought, "is she thinner or is it just because she is not wearing the unflattering brown leather pants?" But she confirmed that she was alot thinner and told us her Mom's neurotic comments about her weight. Do all mom's go to school to learn this stuff??? Northern CA listers will have to tell us what her Mom's reaction was to her loosing MORE weight. Her hair was certainly in its glory given the rain. Walking away I heard many people express that they were overwhelmed by Lucy's performance. They had no idea what they were in for. Go Lucy! She sold many CD's. Not alot of listers in attendance that I was aware of anyways. Just Wayne who gets the award for driving 135 miles in LA traffic in the rain. Yikes. Lucy is really an incredibly consistent performer. She does not dissappoint. :-) Lisa P.S. - Wayne was that a long enough post for you? ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Mar 2003 18:58:47 -0800 (PST) From: Benay Bubar Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Lucy in Ojai, CA Thanks for the nice review, Lisa! Glad to know Lucy did well in Ojai...it's always good (though never surprising) to hear she's winning new fans. I was wondering if we'd hear anything from this California jaunt of hers, and I'm delighted we did! (Anybody who sees the Fresno or Santa Cruz shows coming up, please feel free to chime in!) Benay P.S. Hey, Sarah, haven't yet heard any shrieks of delight from your direction with reference to those Oregon dates added to Lucy's schedule in May...you're going, I hope? You ARE in Oregon, right? (Would that I could make it to Oregon then...I know more than one person I'd love to see out there...BESIDES Lucy!) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Mar 2003 16:35:32 -0800 (PST) From: Deb Woodell Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Libby's CD Robert wrote: - --- Robert Abalos wrote: > I think it would be silly for Libby NOT to promote > her > CD on this list. Time? Other details? NO! It's NOT on tomorrow! Only the FILMING (OK, technically probably it's "taping," but "filming" sounds better) is tomorrow. (It is NOT live. There is some mercy left in the world.) So nobody watch tomorrow and say I lied. It may not be on EVER...and if it is, it will probably be a good deal less exciting than some of you might be hoping (i.e., a few seconds of video, with a voiceover that is NOT me). And, as I said, my not getting to talk means no Lucy references whatsoever...I would try air singing, but even if I exaggerated the mouth movements (Oh-oh-oh-pen your EEEEEEEEYYYYes...and look at MEEEEEEE) I don't think it would get the point across...I mean, YOU all would get it, but the rest of the world would think I was having some odd sort of seizure brought on by the chemicals in the hair product (not entirely impossible, considering how strongly one is warned to WEAR THE GLOVES PROVIDED IN THE KIT!). But you know, this is a case in point for why Lucy should sell T-shirts. I mean, technically I think I'm supposed to dress in nice business attire tomorrow (because, of course, EVERYONE dyes their hair while wearing nice business attire), but even if they had a change of heart and allowed me to put on something informal, I couldn't even grab a T-shirt to promote you-know-who because I DON'T HAVE ONE! Actually, in all fairness there are probably good reasons why Lucy doesn't sell T-shirts...it's probably a nightmare to get them produced, they're probably not that profitable, and hers is not necessarily by and large a T-shirt-buying crowd. But I do recall a short period, a few years ago...at least one show I went to...where there were Ten Year Night T-shirts on sale. If I'd known then what I know now---that it would be my only chance at an official Lucy Kaplansky T-shirt---I would've bought one...or two or three. Does anybody actually have one of those? Does anybody KNOW anybody who actually has one? We don't have to discuss this on the list...I'm just curious. Off to get my beauty sleep, I guess...ugh.
