The Camping at FRFF is getting a bad rap! There are showers! ANd if you're a volunteer you get better showers ;-) They are warm and the pressure is great... although you may have to wait in line, of course wiating in line for the showers is a social event at FRFF. Camping isn't the ideal way to get lots of rest. But camping allows people to be on the grounds all night and parcipate in the many song circles and community gatherings. Its cheap. And you get to meet and really spend quality time with all your folky friends. And the great thing is that if you don't have camping equipment plenty of people are willing to share. Can we handle it? I'm gonna try! Thanks for your responses. I didn't realize that so many hotels were listed on the website. Sorry Benay if I caused your name to be used in vain. I guess I should have started a new thread. I'm hoping to buy tickets soon. Thanks again. A non-Lucy-list friend in the Northampton area mentioned that he heard it rebroadcast there today. Even though it is relatively "old" now, it's still worth hearing if one hasn't heard it, I think...a good, solid Lucy interview with some musical snippets. Most notable is the fact that it was done just after she and Rick wrote Land of the Living, and the interview includes her playing a quite early version of the song...it's fascinating to hear what's different from the current incarnation and to realize how much the song has developed since then. Here's the link: http://www.here-now.org/topics/_arts/al_020117.asp Benay whose list of Things Being Sacrificed to Attend Lucy's Show in West Creek on February 1st now includes all of the following: 1. One Nields/Eddie from Ohio concert in Peekskill 2. $25 for one ticket to above show if nobody else claims it 3. One Cheryl Wheeler show at the Emelin Theater (no ticket for that to worry about, at least) 4. One evening with my parents, who will be visiting from upstate then, but who will not want to go to a Lucy show because they are not "let's have a fun evening out as a family" types, and anyway they merely tolerate my mention of my musical life with what could generously be described as patient forbearance. They are going to be unceremoniously left to their own devices in my apartment that evening, where they will likely perform their usual feat of merrily blowing the fuses and denying that they have any idea why it happened until I later realize they have been microwaving vast quantities of soy-based vegetarian meat products. Never fear, though...my parents will be in town for a whole week, so they will have plenty of time to preach the virtues of soy-based vegetarian meat products to their only child. ("It tastes JUST LIKE spare ribs but it's 'Riblets'!"..."Yeah, that's great, Dad, thanks"...Bet you can't tell the difference!"..."No, really, Dad---it's okay, but I can tell it's not a spare rib"..."No, you can't! No one could! It's JUST like a spare rib!"...etc., etc., etc.) Yes, all THIS I will be missing for Lucy on February 1st. Quandary yet? Nope. Lucy still wins. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Jan 2003 21:01:53 -0800 (PST) From: Deb Woodell Subject: Re: [lucy-list] good past Lucy interview...and the quandary question Benay wrote, of the Here & Now broadcast, >it's fascinating to hear what's > different from the current > incarnation and to realize how much the song has > developed since then. > Here's the link: > http://www.here-now.org/topics/_arts/al_020117.asp Agreed! I heard the interview when it originally aired, and heard it again today, and have heard the song several times in between. I was trying to sing along with it today and got lost, and I first thought maybe it was me, until I realized how the song had changed.
