Show ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2002 00:02:52 -0600 From: "Gina" Subject: [lucy-list] L.A. Show Lucy was wonderful last night at McCabe's Guitar Shop. If anyone kept a set list, please post it. I can only tell you sort of what she played. Small Dark Movie (or whatever it is called) followed by the Greg/Iris wedding announcement Written on the Back of His Hand Ten Year Night Scorpion The Kid The Tide Guilty as Sin The 9/11 song - I don't remember the name of it Hole in My Head What's so Funny You're not the Same (Beatles song) with the Albert Hall concert story Goodnight Just You What's so Funny Bout Peace, Love and Understanding Don't Mind Me White Christmas I know there were others, I just can't remember them at the moment. Someone please help. The show started off rather predictably. It was Lucy and her guitar plus Lucy on piano. Then she was joined on stage by Matt Cartsonis. This is a very talented guitar and mandolin player who Lucy has been friends with for many years. Matt is very playful and a bit of a ham. He gets silly on stage with her and does all sorts of impromptu things. I once posted about the disco ball he had go off during the concert, prompting him to go into almost the whole song of "Staying Alive" in full falsetto voice... The Matt Lucy energy is fun. They aren't well rehearsed because Matt lives in L.A., But, they are great together anyway. He, joined her for a few songs, left and came back. At one point Lucy went on about what a great musician Matt was and someone asked if he could play air guitar. It was none other than Lucy's brother Spike. At the end of the shoe, Lucy sang "White Christmas." Matt came running down the stairs and hurried to put on his mandolin and accompanied her. This was a total surprise to Lucy. It was cute to see the enthusiasm Matt had. I mean, how many musicians would go through that kind of effort just for the fun of playing something like that? Also, Lucy bossed Matt around a bit. At one point she sent him back upstairs to get his capo, pointing to the stairs like a mother would. Lucy was wearing a brown jacket with black T-shirt and black pants. I could not tell if they were leather from were we were sitting. But, Lucy turned away from the audience twice and bent over to get her guitar. Folks, the tops of her red undies peeked out! I can see all you guys who have crushes on Lucy with your mouths hanging open. We have heard the leather pants thing over and over again. Have we EVER had an undies report? I hope it makes up for no set list. Lucy got two encores. She was also excited that the concert ended early enough that she would be able to see Al Gore on Sat. Night Live. I attended the show with a Lucy-list lurker who seems to want to remain anonymous. If you have anything to add, please do. All in all it was another great Lucy show.
