I can't believe I'm going to miss seeing him perform with the Dukes on Fri night. He is playing in Red Bank, NJ which is 15mins from my house. I will be attending a faculty party at NYU with my husband. Why not skip the party?? I've been complaining for the last couple of years that the spouses aren't invited....and of course this year the Director invited me personally. Bad timing!!! Lucy content: I will miss Lucy in NYC on Sunday...Family bowling league!! I will be waiting for the reviews!!! Thanks for letting me vent! Donna ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Nov 2002 15:54:31 -0500 From: bbubar@hearst.com Subject: [lucy-list] priorities, and gift wrap Well, I don't know about those priorities of yours, Donna...just because you've got a really nice husband and two adorable kids, you allow fun plans with your FAMILY to stand in the way of a good Lucy show? You're walking a fine line there. :-) I myself have some difficult juggling to do...I will make Sunday's show, but my plans to be in the Lucy Lemming Line really, REALLY early have been foiled by the fact that friends of mine have the audacity to be having a baby shower that afternoon. I've tossed around various potential excuses, most along the lines of "Hope that childbirth thing goes well and good luck with the kid, but sorry, can't make it, I have a concert line to stand in..." But I think I'm actually going to have to suck it up and go to the event. At least I've got the gift already, though I still have to make a foray to find appropriate wrapping paper. I think it must be one of Murphy's Laws that when you go to wrap a baby shower present and you know you have 20 pieces of leftover wrapping paper from past events and therefore you're sure you must have some usable scrap that features some nice generic puppies or bunnies, everything you have turns out to say stuff like HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Actually, I'm mostly bitter simply because I have strong feelings about wrapping paper in general: I hate it. I am the world's worst gift-wrapper; if I sat behind one of those holiday wrapping tables in a store, it's a good bet I could get people to pay me NOT to wrap their stuff. However carefully I crease and fold and tuck, everything I wrap ends up looking like a truck hit it and I end up traumatized by the experience... See? I'm venting too. Anyway, too bad it's not a MATH PARTY you have to attend at NYU, Donna...undoubtedly, as Lucy's parents' experience suggests, those are the most fun... Well, I'll lament forgetting to set the VCR, but I will take comfort that after a mere 17-18 years of hoping to see a Steve show, I'm going to the TLA show in Philly Saturday night! An added plus will be Garrison Starr as the opener. Anyone else from these parts taking in this one?
