Lucy Kaplansky and the lawyers.. Lucy Kaplansky and the grey suits... Timothy there is a band name in there somewhere.... well the set was started with Richard Shindell.. who had little energy but graced the crowd with 4 new songs... 2 are new york songs, one about a cab driver and one about a meth junkie in upper manhattan they are stunning... Lucy joined him for Best western... and are you happy now her mike was up too high.. so her harmony was stepping all over richard.. then her set... benay im sure you wrote it down... richard joined her for By way of sorrow, Ten year night, scorpion and then they encored.. farewell to st delores, a dave carter tune Lucy even tried to yodel.... as i have been sending in covers that Lucy has done... heres the latest... she needs to keep doing it ... its the fourth in the angry trilogy...its angry enough for her... sharon I'm Looking Through You (Lennon/McCartney) I'm looking through you, where did you go I thought I knew you, what did I know You don't look different, but you have changed I'm looking through you, you're not the same Your lips are moving, I cannot hear Your voice is soothing, but the words aren't clear You don't sound differnt, I've learned the game. I'm looking through you, you're not the same Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right? Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight You're thinking of me, the same old way You were above me, but not today The only difference is you're down there I'm looking through you, any other way Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right? Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight I'm looking through you, where did you go I thought I knew you, what did I know You don't look different, but you have changed I'm looking through you, you're not the same ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Oct 2002 09:45:13 -0400 From: "Benay Bubar" Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy and Richard in Montclair 10/25 Thanks for the background, Sharon...I have 15 things to do and won't have time to spare until maybe tomorrow afternoon, but I'll throw in the set list from last night in Montclair... Richard: Reunion Hill Arrowhead new song #1-about haves and have nots new song #2-The Last Fare of the Day new song #3-State of the Union Fishing I Am The Next Best Western (w/Lucy---yes, her mike was too high but I didn't care because I wanted to hear her more than him anyway!) Are You Happy Now? Good Year for the Roses Transit Lucy: Written on the Back of His Hand End of the Day The Tide (mention of how she had a special connection to Montclair because her first therapist was there...."and if he's here tonight, he should come say hello...though that could be awkward!") (air guitar story) Loch Lomond Don't Mind Me I'm Looking Through You (WOW! With Duke and Zev, it really rocked. She asked "Could we sing that again?" and I almost shouted "YES!" except I knew, sadly, they wouldn't.) I Had Something Ten Year Night (w/Richard) Scorpion (w/Richard) This Is Home (solo) Hole in My Head By Way of Sorrow (w/Richard) Farewell to Saint Delores (Richard on lead, Lucy harmonizing...I breathed exactly ONCE during this song, and I know because it was a gasp, because I HADN'T breathed for a while from when they started...it was just so amazingly beautiful) It was a wonderful show...worth even the traveling ordeal that got Joanne (up from Virginia, spending the night in my apartment) and me back to Brooklyn only a little before 3 a.m. Must rush off to help Joanne with her before-leaving-New-York errands and than hop a bus to NJ again to see a friend...it will be strange to be in NJ and NOT be there for a Lucy show! Some stores (Borders is one of them) are including a four song bonus disc along with Buddy Miller's new "Midnight and Lonesome". The first two songs are alternate takes on two of the songs on the disc, the last two songs are live versions of "Hole in My Head" and "My Love Will Follow You"! ~R. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Oct 2002 10:04:31 -0400 From: Beth Simons Subject: [lucy-list] farewell to st. dolores wow, that's awesome that richard and lucy are doing farewell to st. dolores. eddie from ohio have added it to their setlist at EVERY show since falcon ridge, with a wonderful intro by robbie about how it was his favorite of all of dave's songs, and he had the pleasure of hearing dave play it at his very last show. it was also dave's personal favorite of his songs. i'm so glad to hear that it's still being played, and by such wonderful artists. here's to a cry cry cry reunion at falcon ridge 2003, with st. dolores in the mix!! - --beth, who will finally get another lucy fix AND finally meet benay a week from tonight! :-D At 09:45 AM 10/26/2002 -0400, Benay Bubar wrote: >Farewell to Saint Delores (Richard on lead, Lucy harmonizing...I breathed >exactly ONCE during this song, and I know because it was a gasp, because I >HADN'T breathed for a while from when they started...it was just so >amazingly beautiful) <>o<>o<>o<>o<> Beth Simons beth@simons.mv.com Durham and Merrimack, NH (and St-Brieuc, France, at heart) "I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be." --Douglas Adams ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Oct 2002 10:45:15 -0400 From: "Brian Williamson" Subject: RE: [lucy-list] farewell to st. dolores So what song is this?
