(and a call for anyone needing MN tickets...) Wow! A close call! I just got out of an Engineering Meeting at work where I successfully weaseled my way out of traveling to Seattle for a week for work and which would have consumed the weekend that I am holding tix for TWO Lucy shows, Sept 13 and 14. I bought them up early because I sensed impending "shortage" and mentioned it to several friends and relations as a great opportunity to come along with me to a Lucy show. But now I am beginning to feel a bit overextended! Brother Rick is likely going to be in Singapore for work and Lucy the childrens' librarian is waffling. That's freeing up some tickets that I could be left holding at the door. Furthermore, I've decided (because this is the first Lucy show around here in memory during the WARM time of the year) to pass the time out in front of the Cedar waiting for the doors to open by playing and singing Lucy and Dave Carter songs out on the sidewalk in front of the theatre. Today, I realized that my annual hometown music festival (in Faribault, MN) was that same weekend as Lucy and that a $7.00 all-day festival on the baseball fields on which I played as a boy might compete with the $18.00 show at the Cedar I'd been inviting folks to. I thought I'd best look over the schedule to see WHO was playing WHEN and who I would have to MISS in order to see Lucy in the city. Guess who had been added? Lucy on Sunday afternoon! That makes THREE Lucy shows on three consecutive days: the first one an hour north of my home, the next one three miles from my home and the last one an hour south of my home in my small hometown. Yes, Benay, I will report dutifully! Any listers out there planning on the Friday the thirteenth show in Cambridge, I have extra reserved tickets in the second row. Any lister wanting to avoid the errand to get advance tickets for the Saturday the 14th show at the Cedar(which I feel strongly will sell out before the day of show) go ahead and contact me off-list and I will trade you tickets for a check. I'm sure they could be easily peddled before the gigs if required but I wouldn't mind being spared that task when I'm trying to sing. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! WOW! Thank goodness I am not going to be in Seattle! That was TOO close! How well you know me, Sharon...Timothy, don't tempt me...it's cruel and unusual punishment! I would SO have plane tickets out there if I could afford 'em...no doubt the Excedrin people would be sponsoring my trip if only they knew about my idea and my endorsement offer. Hey, Excedrin people: I will plug Excedrin to everybody I meet (just the regular kind...I promise I won't even mention the magnetic kind!) if you will send me out to Minnesota in September to see Lucy! C'mon, I'm sure Minnesota's a big pain reliever market. Why it would be, I'm not so sure, but I'll think of a reason... Sigh. My week will get better...my week will get better...my week WILL get better...oh, sorry, just an accidental broadcast from my subconscious...and I fear that the TIME that my week will get better is...um...NEXT week. C'mon I have to admit: I have had this same disastrous experience of losing (in my case Advil) pills within the grubby confines of my purse. How I hate the word: purse. I can't help but think of a prunish old woman pursing her shriveled old lips into the word: PURSE. Egad. I grew up calling these attachments to women's bodies: pocketbooks. Not sure if that's any better though. But, hell those darn Advils have managed to escape into my purse/pocktbook/whatever. And, yes, I've done the blow off the lint thang myself. I've recently been the recipient of some second and third degree burns courtesy of my son who was attempting to make dinner for us. Believe you me, some form of Alleeve or Advil or something has been in order. I made the big mistake of being a majorly big soldier at my first doctor's appointment and pretending like the pain wasn't bad. WRONG> It's been two weeks and ouch...it still hurts. Anyway, I digress. Sure wish I could be amused by some reports of far-west Lucy concerts.
