I can't seem to get past the first song, "Rain" on the cd. I had that problem with "Ten Year Night" too!! Sharon went back to early Linda Ronstadt....I went back to early James Taylor(JT) which has the song, "Bartender's Blues" with Linda on harmony. What a great song for Richard and Lucy to cover!!! George Jones recorded it with JT on harmony. Talking to people at concerts, reading the Lucy-list, seeing opening acts, reading liner notes to see who else is singing are all ways I've found someone new. Lucy would be the perfect person to start the Kevin Bacon game with - sooner or later you would tie into just about everyone else. Lately, I've been listening to Lucy, Richard Shindell, Dar Williams, Susan Werner, the Nields, Alison Krauss, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Buddy and Julie Miller, John Gorka, Garrison Starr and the little-known Mary Karlzen's "Yelling at Mary". I understand that Mary Chapin Carpenter is working on an album of all covers. I would love to see Lucy do that - I was listening to Natalie Merchant's version of "Because the Night" in the car on the way home and imagining what Lucy's version would sound like. One cd set that I enjoyed is called "Shelter", the best of contemporary singer songwriters. It was an opportunity to hear songs by many artists, including Cosy Sheridan, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Catie Curtis, Shawn Colvin, Dar Williams, John Gorka, Patty Larkin, Ellis Paul, Cheryl Wheeler, Carrie Newcomer, Nanci Griffith, David Wilcox and others. I ended up buying several cd's by artists I first heard there. It's a double cd with amazing artists like Jenny Reynolds (oh no i forgot her on my list), Lori McKenna, Kris Delmhorst, Jennifer Kimball (oh man i forgot her too), and about 20 others. I highly reccommend buying this cd, you will not regret it and it goes to a good cause.
