Such a wonderful thing when an artist of her stature takes the time to come to areas like this (NW Montana) and play for what would be not usually be considered her "traditional audience". In fact she did a brief hand survey and the vast majority were first time listeners, but after she was called back for an encore ("Guinevere"), I think she was pleasantly surprised to be so well-received. She played "Land of the Free" and I was tremendously moved by her unique and visceral interpretation of the events of 9/11. I found a brief clip of her TV performance but it did not have the complete song (which was a shame because it left out the last verse about the cab driver). Is anyone aware of a place I can find the lyrics, or if another recording of the song is available? Thanks, T.Gunn tagmontana@hotmail.com Kila, Montana I cannot believe that the primary purpose of life is to pursue 'happiness'. I think more importantly it is * to be useful * to be responsible * to be compassionate And above all * to matter * to count * to stand for something * to have made some difference that you lived at all ( Leo Rosten) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Apr 2002 15:49:22 -0500 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] 9/11 Tribute song lyrics Todd, The lyrics to Land of the Living are up on my Lucy website www.angelfire.com/folk/lucykaplansky and there is also links to a radio performance that has the song on it.
