He is the great musical cat who jumped up on stage at a dar concert in pittsburgh. I knew I was in for a hyper cat when I took him home! He's a menace, but I love him. He definately loves to pluck the strings on my violin, I guess cats like stringed instruments and are inherently so musical that they attempt to play the instrument?! Snowy has a "cousin" my mom's cat Dizzy (aka Dizzy Gillespie) and is also related to a Louis (Armstrong) and the late Frisky Mozart. And he has far away cat friends whose names are John, Paul, George and Starr. I love cool musical names for pets, since we won't be naming our kids after our favorite musicians we can at least name our cats after them. I take that back, I met a lovely young girl of seven last yeaer at Falcon Ridge whose name is McCartney, her mom is a big beatles fan as you can tell! ~simona Simona L. Anyway - purpose of this post is to make a recomendation for you all to have a listen to Kasey Chambers new album "Barricades & Brickwalls" just out - For those not familiar with Kasey she's Australian , this is her second album , she's heavily influenced by Lucinda Williams , and so if you like Lucinda and Buddy Miller , who both guest on this album you're gonna love this Highly recommended Donald ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Mar 2002 09:58:34 -0500 From: Donna Myers Subject: [lucy-list] Kasey Chambers I agree with Donald and his strong recommendation for Kasey Chambers. I saw her last year when she opened for Lucinda Williams. It was a great show. Kasey Chambers is about 7 months pregnant and has stopped touring because she fainted during one of her gigs.(according to my local radio station) Be sure to catch her when she returns! Her new album is wonderful. Her name (can't use pictures, as it would require a photographer's release) ends up in screenshots in many of my Macworld articles, and I just finished putting her in my new book, "Microsoft Office v. X for Mac Inside Out," which will be in the stores in June. Microsoft Press, the publisher, is really picky about using people's real names in books (they're afraid of being sued), so you have to have permission for real people. I told them that I've specifically gotten permission from Lucy in the past (I gave her one of my books when I saw her at a show), and I also have permission from Lucy's mom! Well... it WAS! But I do have to say that last night's Charlotte show was AMAZING! I took a roadtrip down... spent a great sunny afternoon driving and listening to music (and unfortunately getting stopped for speeding... *ugh*)... and I arrived in Charlotte, NC a little before the show. Favorite Lucy quote from the night.... The show was at a place called The Neighborhood Theatre... she said, "I love the name of this place. It reminds me of Mr. Rogers... let's all go down to The Neighborhood Theatre, boys and girls.... except... I don't think they'd be serving boos at Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood Theatre..." Opener - Carolyn Evans Excellent... wow. I loved her song "Dorothy" about the ruby-red shoes... Highly recommended... Her full CD is not out yet, but she told me it would be soon! Watch for it... I know I will! :) The setlist.... * He Thinks I Still Care * One Good Reason * Don't Mind Me * I Know What Kind of Love This Is * Ten Year Night * Guilty As Sin * Secret Journey * Loch Lomand * Land of the Living * Hot Burrito #1 * Dad's ABC Song * Pi * Scorpion * Written on the Back of His Hand * Turn the Lights Back On * Still Life * By Way of Sorrow Encores --- * Just You Tonight (on piano) * Broken Things I had a great time. Fun meeting you, NCDoc Lenny! No pressure... I kept the setlist for ya... *grin* Add your, review, though! :) What a great night! I took my sweet time getting home today... stopped at a flea market for a couple of hours... spent a couple of hours at a rest stop sitting out in the ~beautiful~ weather practicing my guitar... It was a very stress-relieving trip, and I'm glad I made it! Home now, and back to the madness... but I'm much clearer-headed! Isn't it great how a night w/ the Doc can just just make things feel right again? *grin* Take care, all!
