I'm sure anyone who ever had a teenage crush can relate to that statement. I've heard the Riccola story twice and it goes something like this - Lucy was on tour in the UK and had picked up a cellphone while she was there (I understand that unlike the US, where 80% of the population seems to have one, it's 99.99% in the UK. She had appeared on a radio show that morning, and was walking down the street when her phone rang and it was Bryan Ferry (or someone calling on his behalf asking her to come to the studio and sing harmony on his new album. And apparently Lucy has a "thing" for Bryan so she was both excited and stunned by the idea. But she had a cold, and mentioned in the studio that she hadn't been able to find any Riccola cough drops. So when she returned for the next session, Bryan had brought a package of them for her. Since they were a gift from Bryan, she was so excited she said something about not wanting to use them, but wanting to have them bronzed. I think she actually said this in front of Bryan (who was probably completely mystified) and may have mentioned being a little embarrassed after blurting this out. When she tells the story, she mentions the "he was thinking about me" part here. Anyway, once she returns to the US, she tells the story, it ends up in a newspaper, and the Riccola people send her an enormous supply of Riccola cough drops. I don't know if she is still telling the story - I'm thinking we'll probably hear about something more recent - like her request for Irish whiskey in a Scottish pub. Oh, Lucy! Or it seems to be. Apparently a nightclub in the North of England that had a no-cell-phones policy, and hence required checking them at the door, decided to do an informal survey of the instruments being held... and found that about 40% of them were FAKES. It seems that the status value of a phone exceeds its affordability over there... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 21:51:39 EST From: Cpattersonhome@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] travelling for music Thanks, Tom.
