Did Lucy remark that she had run into Richard at the airport THAT day? Or, say, even the day before? I ask this because at the Kalamazoo concert on Jan 25 she mentioned she had run into Richard at the airport that day. Now if she said the same thing at this show, several weeks later, I would say either that was one hell of a coincidence, or she is fabricating/embellishing things for the sake of coming up with a pre-song anecdote. And the fellow who made a comment about Richard's schedule may have been merely pointing that out (i.e., how could she have run into Richard at the airport if he was on tour and playing a date halfway across the country at the time?) Does it really matter? It's only intended for our entertainment. Speaking of Richard, has anyone seen him in concert and do you recommend seeing him in concert? "where did you get your degree" is not at all conducive to the show.. it was rather disruptive she handled it like a champ and asked if there were any other questions from the audience.. the over sexualized comments about her pants were unnecessary through the person may have felt that those were justified or provoked... though i agree with tom .. whose whereabouts is in sunny florida... that the time frame for stories are relative.. some artist use yesterday, when yesterday never existed or yesterday for a generic day...or time if the issue is overused stories or setlists.. than that is a separate issue and i have heard many artists who have the same story in constant rotation or for pieces of poetry to well exceed their appropriateness or stories. i have heard way too many times that i can scan through them .. and think about my next work day or shopping list ... there are moments.. like tonight.. after seeing Richard, dave and tracey and Joan that you hear an audience who mostly were not familiar wtih richard shindell and Are you happy now was heard for the first time by most in the room.. i was pleased for richard at the laughter and the response of the NEW audience.. so a song. or story may not be new to me but to many.they have not heard the Babysitter or the song about Pi before and why spoil the moment. the pleasure for me was in the pleasure of the crowd. and that may have translated to lots of cd sales for richard. i say good for him. then there are crowds who scream for those songs you have heard over and over if they want PI.. let em eat PI ... sharon There's a gypsy down on Bleecker Street I went in to see her as a kind of joke And she lit a candle for my love luck And eighteen bucks went up in smoke ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V4 #48 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
