I was so happy Lucy played it on the piano at the Emelin. Lucy says it's the song that made her want to sing....well it's a song that makes me want to listen(again and again)especially with Lucy's grand voice! A special thanks to Sharon for organizing Lucy's Birthday celebration! I can like both Lucy's and Nerissa's versions!! I love that Lucy hasn't changed the line "the man in black says 'you won't mind, it'll be over be over before you know it" to what Nerissa now sings ("the girls in back....."). I love the way Nerissa starts the last verse a cappella, then lets the low E string ring at "how she lost the game," followed a measure later by a tiny arpeggio. I too have heard Lucy sing the **** out of this song, and always love to hear her perform it; for the longest while, I even liked Lucy's version better, but then, one night, Nerissa was particularly connected to the firmament and sang it like she'd never sung it before....I was just left wondering what hit me. I wish I had been there last night, because I totally trust your perception, sharon, and it sounds like it was a thrill!! I'm sure my imagination cannot do it justice. Peace, Sheila who, sad and heretical truth be told, has been known to choose seeing Nerissa over seeing Lucy Looking everywhere for someone else to know Though all the wise ones tell me that real is slow I'm in such a hurry although time is going by fast. ~ NN ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2002 20:24:30 -0600 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy on the Radio The radio show that Lucy recorded while she was here in Lawrence last week will be broadcast this Sunday around 3:00 central. If you're in the KANU airspace (eastern KS) it's 91.5. Otherwise you can listen online (if you want to listen to the whole contemporary folk show it's from 2:30-5 central) at http://kanu.ku.edu/trailmix/index.htm and click listen here. It was a GREAT show...one you don't want to miss....with a beautiful brand new version of Land of the Living. Plus Jennifer on background vocals for a couple of the songs. It should be about 35 mins give or take. Kristen .Get more from the Web.
