HEY even rick was there.. and lucy listers abound.. here's the review i wrote for FUV.. Lucy took the stage in a brown leather jacket and black pants. She last played a show in NYC on 9-21-01 for the public,so it was nice to have her back in the city. Lucy played two shows with similiar sets lists. The staples of End of the Day, Scorpion, Ten Year Night, Five in the Morning were in her setlist. She sang many songs for her new cd "every single day" including "Written on the Back of his hand", and "Dont mind me". She opened set 1 with her killer version of "Wayfaring Stranger" ( a song she sang at her own wedding) and opened set 2 with the Louvin brothers' "And the Angels Rejoiced in Heaven." Lucy had Ben Butler with her who played electric guitar to compliment her acoustic one. Midway through each show, the played three solo songs: a Stunning verions of the scotish ballard- the bonny banks of Lach lamond, her new ballad "land of the Living" (her sights and sounds of 9-11-01, and at the piano Gram Parson's "Hot burrrito #1." " A Lucy Kaplansky show is night of solid musical entertainment. She kept the banter to a minimum last night and kept the music to a max. Lucy is amazing that she has a crystal voice and will surprise the audience with a number of cover song, Like "whats so funny as peace love and understanding" and the two mentioned above. She also preformed Paul Brady's crazy dreams, and Buddy Miller's Hole in Head. No Lucy Kaplansky show is complete without a Julie Miller cover. In the first set, she complied with a request for "broken things" and in the second set, played "By way of Sorrow" Lucy improvised when she accidently broke a string in set2, she performed Just You Tonight at the grand piano. Lucy is a local performer who has been a regular in the New York area for many years. she has perfected her art and for a night of joyful vocals and quality entertainment, a Lucy Kaplansky show is the perfect. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V4 #28 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
