Okay...this is not really a Lucy post...but more like a Six Degrees (not even) Of Separation Lucy post. I've come here because I know there are knowledgeable Buddy and Julie Miller fans on this list. So here goes: I was listening to Buddy's YOUR LOVE AND OTHER LIES cd and can't get over how much track #2 "Don't Listen To The Wind" sounds like "All My Tears" which I think was written by Julie Miller and probably best known as covered by Emmylou Harris on her cd WRECKING BALL. Right? (I'm not around my cds at the moment so I can't check the details to be 100% sure) Is it just me...or does anyone else think those two songs (Buddy's "Don't Listen To The Wind" and Julie's "All My Tears") sound very much alike??? (different lyrics....but similar music) I had my cd player on random play...and I thought that "Don't Listen To The Wind" WAS the beginning of "All My Tears"......and as the song went on I kept thinking...these aren't the same lyrics....but it sure does continue to sound like "All My Tears." (Maybe this has all been talked over before somewhere...and I'M just waking up to it now.) Anyway, I love both songs. And I really love Buddy's "Your Love And Other Lies" cd. And just to add a touch of Lucy to this post... : ) ...I was inspired to listen to this particular Buddy Miller cd after seeing Lucy live recently. She did a very sexy and fun version of Buddy's "Hole In My Head" with Duke Levine helping out on guitar that was the highlight of the show (for moi anyway). It rawked. - -Denise ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Jan 2002 12:12:33 EST From: Pfleary@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] radio in the wine country > CA Santa Rosa KRSH 98.7 FM 707/588-9999 Sharon mentioned the station above in her post re: AAA radio stations. Not sure what makes a station AAA, but KRSH recently was bought by a local person and has become increasingly more independent in its programming. They play a lot of folk/singer-songwriter, americana, blues and world music, which includes plenty of Lucy, as well as Dar, Richard, Dave and Tracy, Mary Gauthier, Greg Brown, etc., etc. Also, our local public radio affiliate, KRCB, continues to be a local leader in supporting and promoting acoustic/folk music. Emmylou did cover "All My Tears" on Wrecking Ball- which was written by Julie. I was watching the Country Music Awards and Lee Ann Womack was singing Buddy's "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger". I was so surprised to see Buddy & Julie playing and singing with her. It's on her cd, I Hope You Dance. She also covered their song, "Don't Tell Me" which is on her cd, Some Things I Know---they actually sing with her on that one. Lee Ann did win an award that night and thanked Buddy & Julie!!! Donna (who loves Lucy's cover of "Hole In My Head" too) ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V4 #26 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
