As one of the people who was with Kristen at the show let me say that whatever you have to say to her about that particular concert then please say it to me. Yes, Kristen, Libby and I got some special attention at the concert but it was neither due any sort of stalking or us asking for it. If anyone was responsible for it then it was me because I took them (as my guests) for dinner before the show and due to my totally being anal about being on time for stuff we ended up being early and were hanging out near the door. Kristen at one point had wonderred which was Lucy's car b/c we saw only three or four other cars in the parking lot. Then we decided that there was probably a back entrance and that Lucy and Rick were probably parked around the side and had probably been there for ages doing sound checks and setting up. All of us were extremely pleasantly surprised when just a few minutes after we got there Lucy shows up with her husban Rick in tow and said hello to us and went inside to set up (she was late) and Rick stayed outside to talk to us. We discussed all sorts of stuff including music, the political situation in Argentina and the odd woman in the red sweater who really needs to get a clue. I even discovered that Rick was probably a former professor of a family friend who I had long lost contact with and am now in the process of trying to locate. Yes, Rick saved us seats in front. I asked him to do that. So please flame me about it. He then spoke to us after the show and took us backstage to say hello to Lucy. Lucy seemed more than happy to chat with us and take some photos with us. I don't see how any of this makes it seem that Kristen is overly involved in Lucy's life. I only see that Lucy and Rick are extremely kind people who care about their fans and the people who have been loyal to her career over the years. And Rick is probably the epitome of the word mench (sp?). ITs a shame that there are people who feel the need to insult someone for being overly enthusiasitic. I only recently met Kristen but I knew before I had met her that she was a genuinely kind and good person who would not dare to insult someone out of the blue and without cause (or with cause for that matter). Now that I have met her i understand her love of music and her want to take a professional role in it. I hope that she achieves her goals there. And between being a grad student studying fossils, working, and helping run a folk music program in her college town I would dare say that she is too busy to be stalking anyone. good morning, Simona Simona L. It was changed from 1/27 to 2/3 because the games cancelled 9/16 were played the weekend after Christmas and the playoffs were delayed. Really, really enjoyed reading your, Kristen's, and Simona's emails about the trip plans before and your experiences the weekend of the Rochester concert. Having the opportunity to talk to the performer means a lot to me. It adds a great deal to the fun of the evening. I always wait till the crowd thins out after the concert before talking to the performer, as I did when I saw Lucy in Cleveland in October. Also talked to Rick as he manned the CD table. Liked the L,K & S emails so well that I forwarded them to a few non-listers. Even considering the negative comments Kristen has been receiving, I hope that you and other listers will continue to post concert reviews including interesting anidotes. Wish I could have gone to Rochester. Would have liked to meet the lady in the red dress! Northern VA to Rochester is a long way, but Alabama to Rochester is a whole lot farther. You are a brave girl to make that trip in January. If you go to WV, we expect a complete report of the weekend. Take care. I agree with the responses that Gina, Phil, Simona and Roxy have given so far. We know how much work it took to put the Book together and you didn't even have the opportunity to help present it. As already posted, I enjoyed the K, L & S emails about the Rochester weekend. Lucy & Rick are friendly people and easy to talk to. As a good example, at Lucy's concert in Birmingham last February, during intermission a lady had Lucy cornered between the stage and the restrooms. As I walked by on the way to the restroom. Lucy said "I know you!". I said "Yes, and I'll see you after the concert". So getting to the UU Church in Rochester early and standing outside the doors in the cold should entitle you to front row seats. Nothing special there. Hope that bringing these rude comments out in the open will END THEM. Concentrate your efforts the next few weeks on the February concert in Lawrence. Good luck. Hope you had a great time at home over the Holidays.
