I didn't find it "freezin" Jenny, you should have been at the Cottier (an old converted church) in 1996 to see Dar. We took our gloves off to clap her when she came on stage and then promptly put them back on again. The scarves stayed on until the interval which is probably when we started to unbutton our coats too. Now that was cold. I have seen Judie Tzuke and her band at the Cottier as well and after their interval they came out with their hats, gloves and scarves on to make the point that it wasn't just the audience who were cold. My ticket for Lucy at the Ferry came in yesterday. Now considering that there is one week to go, my ticket is only number 41. Sounds like it could be a very intimate concert! I have been a keen Dar Williams fan for about the last five years but have only just started listening to Lucy. I am going to the concert in Belfast on 20 December. If there are any other NI listers out there who are going to the concert let me know and we can arrange to meet beforehand. On a similar vain does anyone have any further details about Lucy's appearance on Radio Ulster on 21 December. If it was a 'proper' concert venue then maybe you could criticise for being a little bare and lacking that cozy feeling. It's also in a really crappy bit of town that's not so easy to get to if you're relying on public transport. Dar and Lucy could have been put in nicer places... the Ramshorn Theatre is always nice... Hi Mark! Glad to have you on the List. I've been to your country three times. I'm a historian and I toured Belgium as part of a walking tour of the Western Front defensive line during World War I. We started in Nieuport and, of course, extensively toured around Ypres and the infamous places around Passchendaele such as Langemarck and Tyne Cot. Our tour took is through France and ended near Basel, Switzerland. You have a beautiful country and great beer! I can't wait to visit again! Welcome to the Lucy List! Robert Yahoo! From the mails I received, I can tell that you know Belgium for it's cheese, it's beer and it's history. And you know what? You're right! Belgium is the paradise for drinkers and eaters. But did you know, we have some interesting folksingers and folkbands too? The folk here is not quite the same as in America. The Belgian traditional music has been influenced by music of France, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands. That's because Belgium is so small and has been occupied by many foreign countries. You should search the web for Laos (three girls with voices like angels, according to Emmylou Haris), Urban Trad (where techno meets folk), Fluxus (Fluod folk), Clochard (Irish tunes from Belgium), etc. If you want to learn more about Belgian folk you can start from this website: www.folk.start.be I like all kinds of folk, also American folk. Last weekend I went to a concert of Erik Andersen and A. Taylor. Especcially Taylor was very good. Andersen's voice seemed to be tired. So, it's late for my children and I'm gonna put my children in their bath and then bed. See you! Ian has my ticket for the Bein Inn but if it starts at 8.00 p.m. then allowing for a short support 9.00 p.m. would seem reasonable. Mind you Dar Williams was on by 9.45 on Sunday night and off by 10.10 p.m. (maybe she didn't like the Renfrew Ferry either?). I would reckon Lucy will plan to finish by 11.00 p.m. Iain I've decided Pies and Bovril would be appropriate for the ferry.
