WHERE IS IT? It is moored at Clyde Place on the south bank of the river Clyde in Glasgow just to the west of Central Station and its rail bridge. It is about 5-10 minutes walk from Central Station. For a map of the area try - http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?x=258250&y=664750&zoom=1&isp= 200&ism=500&arrow=y?155,92 An aerial photo try here - http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?X=258355&Y=664723&arrow=Y&zoo m=1&largeuk=P The Ferry is the white rectangle at the lower left on the river. MOORED? It is an old river-size roll-on roll-off car ferry which has been modified with what looks like a large conservatory top. DO I NEED MY SEA SICKNESS TABLETS? River size ferries are very stable - you wouldn't think you were on a boat. SOUNDS LIKE AN ODD VENUE Well it certainly has a lot of character and heavy rain is rather loud on the roof. This could well take the biscuit for the oddest venue either Lucy or Dar have played (unless of course you know better!). You enter on the upper deck and go down to the wooden car deck which has the stage. There are some tables and folding chairs which we all moved to get them closer to the stage when Dar was there. It would probably take 100 to 200 people. UPPER DECK? The upper deck, which is all enclosed, forms a balcony level the whole way around the car deck with chairs and tables as well. So if you want to look down on Lucy's back all night, you can. Both decks have bars and Dar had a merchandise table on the upper deck. WHAT ABOUT CAR PARKING IN THE CENTRE OF GLASGOW? Clyde Place is a wide road with no parking restrictions after 18:30. You can park right at the door if you want to. WHEN DO THE DOORS OPEN? The Dar concert started at 20:00 and the doors opened about 30 minutes beforehand but the queue started about 19:10. Dar told us her curfew was 22:00 but then did two solo song encores after that. She did come out very quickly afterwards for the meet and greet. WHERE COULD WE MEET BEFOREHAND? UK Dar List met at the Crystal Palce which is a JD Wetherspoon's bar/eaterie on Jamaica Street. It is cheap, large, beside Central Station and 5-10 minutes walk to the venue. Check here for a map - http://search.yell.com/search/ShowMap?scale=10000&companyName=crystal+palace&na t_id=2778192&referer=search&replayURL=%2Fsearch%2FDoSearch%3Fscreen%3DVAL%26sta te%3DINI%26companyName%3Dcrystal%2Bpalace%26scrambleSeed%3D24154%26businessType %3D%26location%3Dglasgow%26&location=glasgow&panY=0&panX=-1 This translates as - go to yell.com, leave "What" blank, type Crystal Place into "Who" and Glasgow into "Where". Then select Map/Directions which should give you both Jamaica Street and Clyde Place on the same map if you zoom in and go west slightly. Hope this is helpful. From: Rulu33@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] lucy in minneaoplis >>>Any one going to see Lucy at the Cedar Center? I cannot be the only Minnesota Fan. Meet you there.<<< Heck no! I'll be there! But it is funny that I haven't got a clue who the other big Lucy fans are in my own town! Let's discuss off-list. I would love to meet up there or across the street beforehand, perhaps in one of the many East African cafes full of taxi drivers. Who else might be out there (and looking for advance tickets for a show that WILL sell out)? IT WAS FREEZIN!!! Take a woolly jumper. Dar probably wasn't cold though cause she was doin so much jumpin about... but maybe lucy would want to rethink that sleevless.k thing if anyone wants to mention that to her. jenny* ===== *You say you're looking for someone Who'll pick you up each time you fall, To gather flowers constantly An' to come each time you call, A lover for your life an' nothing more, But it ain't me, babe* -Bob Yahoo! Perhaps I'm not representative but I thought it was the most godawful, unsuitable venue possible. I'm sorry but both Dar and Lucy deserve a lot better. Maybe that's just my opinion? Iain P.S. I did enjoy Dar though but......... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 23:09:11 -0500 From: Jeff Bernstein Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy on ST:E I just finished watching an episode of Star Trek:Enterprise from 2 weeks ago. The guest star, Diane DiLascio, looks and sounds (in her speaking voice - no, she didn't sing) just like the Doc. Eerie. Anyone else see this episode called "Civilization"?
