TONIGHT?!?!?! Hey...anybody know about this show in Cambridge, MA tonight? I just noticed it on my musi-cal concert email this morning.....never saw this show on the list until NOW . It's gonna take a lot of scrambling of plans to get there...but I must get there. - -Denise (Scorpion) Capotosto ; ) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2001 09:36:08 -0500 From: Donna Myers Subject: [lucy-list] House of Blues Denise, I think the show tonight is at the House of Blue's in Las Vegas. You might have to do more scrambling than you thought!!! Musi-cal lists Lucy as playing at The House of Blues in Cambridge, but her booking agent's tour schedule lists her playing The House of Blues in VEGAS. That might be why I never heard of this show until today.....it's really in Vegas NOT Cambridge??? Right? - -DC ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2001 11:20:28 -0600 From: "Timothy Bruce" Subject: [lucy-list] ESD on the ebony and ivory? Work sent out a general directive to lighten up our stored e-mails. (Don't laugh! It could happen to you!) When clearing out stuff, I found a review I posted last winter. The excerpt below piqued my interest: >>If you count the Happy Birthday song she sang for Henry, the young dairy farmer from down the road, she did twenty two songs, including a brand new one (?) on piano which she did not put a name to but is likely the new title track because there was this line "Every Single Day" that kept coming up. She explained the quandry that she had found herself in working up the current batch of songs in the studio with three of the nations top guitar accompanists, Duke Levine, Jon Herrington and Larry Campbell. It made some of her new songs nearly impossible for her to do justice to live, so she was endeavoring to re-arrange some of them for solo piano. "Every Single Day" had become a piano tune during the sound check earlier in the day.<< I have been undergoing some serious live Lucy drought lately. And I didn't recall a piano on-stage at Falcon Ridge. So is Lucy performing ESD on piano these days? Inquiring minds want to know! The last time i saw lucy on the piano was at the acoustic cafe in bridgeport-she played every single day No that is a mistake- there is a piano available at the brichmere and she played it there in september. I have seen the piano at the Acoustic Cafe and at Makor. I was just on musi-cal checking out Small Potatoes' schedule... they are going to be in Baltimore and I wanted the dates (as it turns out, I don't think I can make it). But... I noticed that they are going to be performing in January, I think, at a place called the Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson, WI. Now... Fort Atkinson is my hometown... lived there from 82-95... graduted from high school there... etc, etc... and then moved away... haven't lived there since 95. When I lived there I heard rumors of this place... an "unseemly" little cafe on South Water Street where "good girls" were not allowed to hang their hats... at least according to _my_ family's rules and regs... *sigh* And so... in the time that I lived there, I never once set foot in the Cafe Carpe. Well... today, on a whim, I went to the Carpe's www-site (www.cafecarpe.com) just to check it out... see who else might be performing there... etc, etc... And it gave a partial list of performers who had been there in the years since it opened... quite an impressive list... and it includes the Doc!! I could have been exposed to her music years earlier!! Oh, such sad regrets... I suppose that's why I'm such a fanatic now... making up for lost time???? *grin* Libby - -- - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Libby Wiebel | ewiebel@cs.wm.edu | http://www.cs.wm.edu/~ewiebel - ---------------------------------------------------------------- "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." - Helen Keller - ---------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2001 14:08:44 -0500 From: "Paul Rafanello" Subject: [lucy-list] This Is Mine on piano? >the piano songs are: If you can see, this is mine >and Every single day, hot burrito #1 This is mine on piano? I wish she'd work more piano numbers into her sets when performing at venues that have one. Something about the way the sound of piano meshes with her voice just really moves me. Can't vouch for the Makor show, but she definitely accompanied herself on piano when she sang Hot Burrito #1 at Canal Street in Sept. Steve Donna wrote: > I love when Lucy plays the piano!
