I know that you are all very inspired and intelligent people and many think the way i do about war and peace and tragedy. I am looking for a poem to read tomorrow at assembly at my school. I have been asked by my rector (principal for merikans) if i could possibly find something (they don't want something that i wrote myself) that would fit an assembly with the following message - denounces the terrorist attacks on new york and expressing condolences for the victims, but also denounces the attacks on afghanistan and the deaths being caused there and expresses a worldwide demand for peace. If anyone knows something that will fit, or has written something themselves that would fit, i would be so grateful to receive it (please mail privately) . thanks, jenny* *You say you're looking for someone Who'll pick you up each time you fall, To gather flowers constantly An' to come each time you call, A lover for your life an' nothing more, But it ain't me, babe* -Bob Find a job, post your resume on Yahoo! Well I haven't been able to get a yes or a no from anyone on the Birthday Project....so I've decided to just do it. I can't imagine Lucy being too upset about us wanting to raise money in her name for a charity. I had some emails from people who are not on the list and they said they would be interested in a shirt too. So for that reason, I took off all the designs that mentioned the list. There are 8 t-shirt designs and 2 bumper sticker designs up for vote. Please go and vote on one of each!! I'm going to allow voting for a week. I'd really like to get these made ASAP so that they're ready in time for the holidays. You can see the designs and vote at http://www.angelfire.com/folk/lucykaplansky/bdayproject.html Thanks! Now I'm curious what's to stop me or (anybody else) from voting multiple times? I hope the site is set up so an email address can vote only once. Steve p.s. while I voted for shirt #8, if it does win I would want it in any color BUT black. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Nov 2001 17:45:45 -0600 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] T-shirt/Bumper Stickers I've set it up so that you get 1 vote per IP #....or in theory thats how its supposed to work. If someone is desperate enough to vote multiple times in something like this they need help ...i'm trusting that people are honest enough not to vote a bunch of times. As for the color...if that one does win, i'll hold another vote on the color. With the design, it has to be a really dark color but the designer is willing to change the color. I'm not one to write reviews, so I was hoping that someone else would. It was a very special night. Lucy said that it was the type of night where she wanted to play all night. As it was, the concert didn't end until 11:15 and I would say that it started around 8:15. Alice Peacock opened. She was delightful - funny and cute. She sang a few good songs, but her most shining moment was when she sang harmonies on the second encore for the song Guinevere. It was awesome. Lucy just looked over at Alice with a big, wide grin. Alice didn't see it because she had her eyes closed and was just completely, passionately involved with the moment. Lucy played with Nina Gerber who was fabulous. They seemed to have a good old time together. And then Matt Casteonis (sorry if I have the name spelled wrong) came out and played mandolin for several songs. He is an awesome player whom I have seen before. Lucy was the best I have ever heard her. It was an evening that just came together very well - like a good hair day. She told the Ricola story, sang the Pi song and the Alphabet song. She was quite amazed that people in the audience were familiar with her new album. I'm sure someone can do this night more justice than I can. So if you were there, pipe in. She thanked everyone for coming to her show instead of watching the world series and said that she hoped "the diamondbacks, or what ever they're called, win" She also told the ricola story and told us that her first show with cry3 had taken place in the very same venue. After the show she signed CDs and I told her hello from everyone on the list and she said that she sends out hugs to everyone and hopes to see you all soon. - -Cathy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Nov 2001 18:18:03 -1000 From: Eric B Milstein Subject: RE: [lucy-list] september the 11th and peace Jenny, If your rector cannot tell the difference between the vile acts of the terrorists and what is currently happening in Afghanistan, then he or she is not fit to be educating children. Please ask him or her if they recall the results of appeasement of Hitler by Chamberlain prior to the Second World War. Then have h/h explain the difference between that and caving-in to evil today.
